Birdlove 0
I was taking some pictures of my little Allen a couple days ago, and I have to say... either my photography skills are improving or Allen is becoming a little more tolerant of the paparazzi. Anyway, here are the pictures (I hope none are too big...) Enjoy! Sorry that was a rather picture-heavy post.. Edited April 2, 2014 by Birdlove
Kaj 0
Great photos - so what type of budgie is Alan (apart from very cute), I am still trying to identify all the variations, - Opaline, Single factor dominant pied etc?
Finnie 0
Allen is an opaline greywing dominant pied (single factor) yellow face mutant two sky blue split to cinnamon. Birdlove, those are fantastic photos. Allen may be a ham for the camera, but I think a lot of the credit needs to go to the photographer! By the way, I was looking at images of yf2 budgies today, and a very familiar looking one came up. Sure enough, it was Allen, that you must have posted to a website called Budgie Info. He is definitely unique and beautiful.
Birdlove 0
Thanks, Finnie! Actually, Allen doesn't really like getting his picture taken (you might have noticed the millet in most of the shots..), he prefers to chew on the camera Yes, I put his picture on that Budgie-Info website a while back... they have a thing that any one can submit pictures of their budgies Great photos - so what type of budgie is Alan (apart from very cute), I am still trying to identify all the variations, - Opaline, Single factor dominant pied etc? Thanks Kaj. I have to agree that he is very cute, but I might be a little biased
robyn 0
Love the action shots. Not easy to get, I had trouble getting any pics. Thank heaven for digital cameras. Gee Finnie, sure you got get his mutation right !!! What a mouthful l.o.l.
Kaj 0
Hey birdlime, in the 3rd last photo, Alan looks quite blue. Does he have a blue side or was that something to do with the camera? Is the green colouring on his backa tinged with blue? P.S. you should be biased and proud. Thanks Finnie, very helpful. I can see most of it but where does the "mutant two sky blue split to cinnamon " come in. Are you able to explain this more for a mutation newbie? Sorry Birdlove my spelling corrector changed you name!!!!
Finnie 0
Lol, guys, I cheated. I looked up in my records from when Allen was born to see what I had written back then. Kaj, you would not be able to see that he is split to cinnamon. I just know he is because his mother was a cinnamon. (For those of you who didn't already know, you are getting the idea that Birdlove bought Allen from me. ) Also, the "mutant two" refers to the yellowface part, not to the sky blue part. It is more commonly known as YF2 or yellow face type two. But in genetics, the words "type 1" and "type 2" mean something entirely different, so it's not really a good idea to confuse the issue by calling the yellow face mutations "types". It took me a while, but I was able to train myself to say "yellowface mutant 1" and "yellowface mutant 2". Birdlove, that is so funny that he likes the camera! I've had some like that before. The only photos of them you can get is a huge blurry beak filling up the shot.
