All the babies are now in the aviary. The grey baby has only been out of the nest for a couple of days but its dad is in there too and is still occasionally feeding it (it can crack its own seed too). Now for the question. My cinnamon baby threw up this and would like to know if anyone has seen it before? The only thing I can think of is the father chewing the lid of the nest box and feeding it to the chick. As to your last picture. as cinn chick has been out in aviary could it have been chewing on some type of fibrous material? Looks a bit like a cat's fur ball l.o.l. Don't think Dad would feed chick that sort of stuff, does he still feed it? Very odd is it the only one that has done this? Link to comment

The baby sicked it up the second day in the nursery cage. It could have watched its father chew on the box lid (which he does all the time) and did the same thing. The father has even chewed a big chunk out of the lid. Link to comment

At least it got rid of it, hopefully with no after effects. Another case of monkey see monkey do? As long as it doesn't swallow again when it's in a breeding box. Link to comment

Glad it is okay. Are the pictures above of the same bird?? If so it gos to show how photos can change the cere colours as I would say hen for the first and cock for the second. Link to comment

First baby was in the nest box this morning. I just thought I would share this because it is a miracle baby. I noticed a few days after it was laid the egg had a hole in it (lucky it was in the air space) so I put a water proof band-aid on it. and now I have this little cutie Link to comment

Also good to put in the memory bank, one never know what will crop up. Has your first chick coughed up any more "fur balls"? Link to comment

There has been no more fur balls but the other chick that was fostered in that box often does the same motion of being sick with nothing coming out so I don't know if it has some in his crop. I've gone back to thinking it was the father, he wasn't very good at looking after the chicks. Link to comment

The eldest is a foster (there were 2 of them) that weren't being fed. I took a bit of a gamble but I didn't have a choice. Plus it was one of those times that things went wrong, the hen who has them now her cock died after she laid 2 eggs so I put in another and she missed one lay day then laid 4 more and her first 3 were clear (2 from the first and 1 from the 2nd cock) so the gap was big.
