I bought home two young budgies yesterday they have had their wings clipped, and they haven't moved of the highest perch at all not even to come down to drink or eat?

Can they not fly around the cage now that their wings are clipped or they take awhile to explore? Not sure

Of sexes yet will post them when I work out how lol.

I took them out to put them on the lower perch and one bit me hard and the other didn't really care...

Any help would be appreciated

Hi Stewiegirls, don't worry to much you need to give them time to settle in.They will be scared and uncertain of their new surroundings. Budgies feel safe on high perches and if you can cover some of the cage with a towel and they will feel safe.

With their wings clipped they will still be able to get around the cage.

Oh thanks so much for that and should I leave them inside for awhile and not handle them for a couple of days?

I would give the a few days. You will see they will start moving around and eating more and they will start to make more noise :)

I have a new budgie (this is the third day) and mine stayed on the highest perch for the entire first day, but now Nugget is playing all around the cage. I think it just takes time to settle in and realize it is not in danger.

Elle, it's okay to resurrect ancient threads if you have a comment that is pertinent to the old thread. But please stop asking new questions of your own at the end. Questions of your own need to be put in a new thread you start yourself, in the proper area of the forum. Also, keep in mind, when you are reading the old threads, that some of those people might not be around the forum any more, so they probably won't respond to your questions. If you want to know about wing clipping, go ahead and start a new topic. I'm not going to split this one off. :) Cheers, Finnie
