As this topic suggests I need to have a vent about my inlaws as they are driving me nuts.

So first my mother inlaw made me move my budgie who is in quarantine from our double carport to the tin shed.

Second my inlaws arrived last night at 9:30pm stating my house isn't clean and needs a lot of work. I was then ordered around till 1am cleaning my house to their standards as in (OCD perfect).

Third I was woken up at 7:30am today to drive them to the grocery store to buy ingredient for my fiancee's bday lunch. Shops don't open till 8:30am.

Forth I was ordered around all day in my own kitchen when I was trying to cook and prepare lunch. When I say ordered I mean told to do something told I'm not doing it right then had it demonstrated how to do it and told to do it properly. Yet I'm the one who has completed multiple hospitality tafe courses, so I know how to cut salad and meat, especially when I came up with the menu.

Fifth for dinner I said we are having leftovers I placed out all leftovers. I then said "I'm not hungry right now so I'm going to feed my budgies then I will be back for dinner." When I returned all the potato salad was gone, all the ceasar salad was gone, only a small amount of garden salad was left, all the chicken was gone, 4 small pieces of minute steak were left, one sausage and all the onion was gone. My fiancee and I both had to share this small amount of food that all fit on one dinner plate and not even a full dinner plate.

Just to top the weekend off all my personal hygiene products have been moved.

Does anyone else have problem inlaws? How do you deal with them?

I feel alot better now that I have vented to you guys. If you made it this far thanks for reading and please give your opinion on what I should do.

Kaitlyn

You say Fiancee not husband. If I were you I would set a few rules before the big day. If it's this bad now what will it be like then. Set up a united front with fiancee and say what happens in your home is your business (which will show which side of the fence fiancee is going to sit as well).

When visiting them you go by their rules, same applies in yours. Stand up for yourself now or you will be forever bossed around. my thoughts anyway.:P

Being a male, I guess I can still say this much, the wife should definitely be the 'King and Queen' of the household... That's just how society should work :D

Thanks you guys, the problem is I had them trained so they always asked and were polite and so on. But since we have moved into their investment property, about a month ago, it has slowly gone down hill.

It seems they have control issues and more so since you live in a property they own now

Oh yeah! The final issue is that David's (my fiancee) family never tell each other how they really feel. So when I do turn around and say something I get pinned as the bad guy for being too negative. His whole family I one big puppet show with the older people just telling the younger ones what to do. It is just so annoying.

Does anyone else have problem In-laws? How do you deal with them?

I'd love some advise.

Ditto F.T. if it was not allowed on this forum Kaz would have said something.

I think moving in to THEIR house may cause problems, hence the it's not clean enough etc. If possible I think I'd try to find another house.

That way they can disapprove if they like (of the housekeeping) but would have no kickback. :)

Sorry that you feel my vent was inappropriate, but I needed to vent. I'm sorry some of you feel it was wrong of me. I just obviously felt hurt, upset and angry.

I have previously seen other members talk about anything and everything in the off topic chatter from dating too homework help. I hope I haven't offended anyone but the topic title clearly stated what the topic was all about.

I see no problem with this topic and as it hasn't already be removed or deleted, I assume the others Admins agree with me.

I can't offer you any personal advice Kaitlyn, but wanted to wish you the best of luck!

I say vent away Kaitlyn. Better to let it out here than "blow up" with in-laws because you have bottled it up. l.o.l.

Thanks Maesie and Robin, I definitely agree. Venting was much better than screaming at them.

i thought you were crazy to willingly stay up that late to clean YOUR house, but seeing the later post that it is really owned by them must make it hard to tell them to back off.

Hugs to our Kaitlyn - don't really have answers for you.

I'm normally an easy going gal but hate been bossed, I would have dug my heels in long before the end of that first day lol.
