So I put the abgrit all over my floor, I was using wood shavings but found them a pain in the butt because they fly everywhere, in the water in the food, clogged up against the door so I can't close it. So i only have bare cement floors now. How thick do you lay it Phill? I still have a fair bit left of that bag. Link to comment

I mainly spread it out below the perches Julie, just throw it down on the floor as you please, they will soon scratch around in it and spread it out. Link to comment

At least having something on the floor where the perches are will make it easier for cleaning. Link to comment

Apart from meds, are you giving your birds special food or supplements? Lost two today Renee. But I also took two out of the nappy cage and put back in aviary . Some look great , some not. They are getting seed but in a feeder jar so there is less contamination as sick birds like to sit in the feed bowls. They are getting millet sprays every day , the real sick ones (3) are getting crop feed twice a day. Aviary floor is checked and any droippings are dusted over with Lime. Tomorrow is the last day of meds, then they will go onto mulit vitamin and probiotics. Link to comment

I don't suppose they are your "lesser" birds by any chance or is that too wishful thinking ... Good idea about the feeder jars, I will keep that in mind should I need to. Link to comment

How are your birds doing now they are off the meds? Is there any way you can now assess them for internal organ damage? Link to comment

So all was well let 5 birds go last weekend in the flights , Kept another 10 in the house this week due to the extreme weather changes , all are fine and will go into the flights tomorrow. Unfortunately lost 2 more due to megabac. Renee the only way I work out if internal damage is done is by breeding the birds , under breeding stress you find the weak birds . I used a product called turbobooster on the seed , fed continually this will put weight back onto the birds. Great for recovery. Link to comment

I have heard of this Turbobooster product. I was wondering if you could tell me more. For example do you mix it into the seed? and can you do a big batch and feed to outside aviary birds or not? Good lesson for everyone though - cocci becomes active at the change of the season (warm, moist weather). It's a good time to plan a cocci treatment. Or after a big thunderstorm!!! Glad to hear you got through it not too badly. Link to comment

Glad all is well Matt Link to comment
