i had eggs for breakfast this morning and we have the shells still and i was wondering if it is alright to crush them and give them to the budgies for extra calcium. is this fine for budgies and if so do i need to clean the egg remnant of them or leave it on there.

P>S the eggs were boiled.

I'm glad you mentioned the eggs were boiled, because that's what I was going to tell you.:) Cooked is good, but I wouldn't give them raw.

Show breeders often boil eggs and put them whole in an aviary with just a bit of the shell picked off for access to the egg. They eat the lot.

Eggs are great for them. As well as adding a whole egg, you can hard boil them and then crush/mash the whole thing up (all egg and shell) and add grated veggies too... Makes a nice mix, especially for breeding hens when they have chicks to feed. This mix will last a few days in the fridge and give some each day. (If you have a food processor it works well in that)
