If you shine your torch on the eggs it should see red in the egg through the shell, blood, and the egg should turn pearly white.

How long has it been since they were laid nathan? Is the hen sitting on them?

If by the 10 day mark they show no red or darkness than I usually get rid of them.

But give them that much time as they only start developing if the hen has been sitting on them.

When I first started out this was my main reference for when I was candling

http://birdys-stirling.webs.com/fertilityofbudgieeggs.htm

They are nice clear pictures and show you the first signs of a fertile egg :)

That depends.

Is the yellow budgie a Double Factor spangle or a Lutino?

And if its a lutino, is it the cock or hen?

Nathan .....................you have already asked the question about a Yellow budgie, and a Sky blue budgie

here http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=30996&st=0&p=367131entry367131

I am going to be real honest with you here Nathan.

STOP what you are doing. I am sorry but you havent a clue. You say you threw out non fertile eggs yet you also admitted you really didnt know how to candle eggs properly or what to look for. Based on when you candled and how old you say eggs were chances are real high you threw out perfectly good eggs.

You go out and buy a new bird and put it straight down to breed apparently as well.

What ages are your budgies ?

Show us your breeding cage so we can help you with advice...........how to post photos link in my signature.

You have begun about four random topics along the same lines when you should just have one and keep adding to it by using the reply button.

You dont answer or address many questions or suggestions put to you by members.

I dont think you should be breeding yet Nathan and you have far too many gaps in your knowledge.

You should be learning from us all here and now well before you go adding a nestbox.

Sorry, but really......you need to stop and listen.

Well said KAz. And nathan. i was exactly like you when i started late last year on this site i was all excited about breeding and i got pretty similar advice that kaz is giving you. im only just about to start to breed

and ive nearly been on here a year. you just need to make sure you know everything just in case something goes wrong. its no use rushing in if you are going to lose some good budgies due to lack of experience.

well im just going to say this

THANK YOU KAZ i was like omg :blink: i really dont understand why people breed then ask questions latter

i mean okay

i to still ask questions but their is basic guidelines all should know before even deciding to breed

Nathan no one is picking on you and their is many that come here and are told same thing so dont feel pin pointed

but just go to a library and grab a book called john scobles budgerigars you will will lean enough in that to then come back here and understand all of the information on here that if you read it fully you will just about know everything

alot of very knowledgeable people on her both advanced breeders and a few learning ones that know their stuff to
