I want to give my birds the best nutrition. but I notice if they have only seed they don't eat much of anything else. I taught them to eat Harrison's pellets (one of the few cold processed all organic and no junk added) harrisons I got them to eat other things. like greens and sprouted seeds and wheat grass and such. but if I leave seed in all of the time thats about all they eat. if I leave pellets in I can get them to eat the goldenfeast foods and other foods. I know it is because they don't like to eat pellets.

so I am trying to work out the best way to feed them. seed all the time seed part of the day and all the other foods? right now they have the pellets a smaller amount of a seed some of the goldenfeast Australian mix goldenfeast some dried egg food baby green mix sprouted seed fruit and some veggies. with no pellets they may eat a small amount of the fresh and almost nothing else but seed. with the pellets and seed sometiems they eat far more of the regular foods.

their seed is a decent seed mix with the dried fruits and veggies.

I have tried seeds enough for a day leaving the pellets in going every other day that way or a smaller amount of seed every day. or should I not worry and always have seed?

Hi ZSteve and Welcome. I had to move your first post into its own topic as sometimes, when tacked ionto another topic, it can be lost and not get the answers it deserves.

I am not apellet person..dont believe in them and wont serve them.

My birds have seed at all times ( very best quality seed ) and get the extras every day too...a varying amount of types but some from the list everyday... a variety of additional vegies and fruits, as well as a soft food mix.

They get

sweetcorn

beetroot

bok choy

pakchoy

english spinach

large spinach or silver beet

carrots

apples

citrus fruits..... oranges, lemons, grapefruit, and mandarins

Soft food has a basis of dry porridge oats mixed with water and added calcivet, some whey protein powder, whole egg powder, polenta, wheatgerm, some budgie seed mixed in, some hulled or whole oats etc

I would never consider removing a food source to make them eat another.
