Come on GB! Where are the updates and continuing story.....?

funny you should ask nubbly

as i did try two days ago to up date but after spending quiet some time getting pics and writing things

i pressed the wrong button and shut down the sight

when i put it back up i had lost everything

since i was trying to do it as a out let for all the stuff happening around me i found it rater quiet iritating and decided

FU%&^$ K

so........ sorry about that

but quick update no pics yet as i also left my cam out in a thunderstorm last week :{ yep stupid is as stupid does

and im still drying it out it still works but foggy pics i have three cams i just cant use the others as they are to complex for me right now

but the lacewing hen ended up with 2 out of 8 fertile eggs alive and feed well shes plucking down off the first one but not the second one so i think she may stop this

one is lacewing one it dark eyed and will be Opaline as both mum n dad are

the other hen you sent over has 7 eggs two hatched and fed on time

one dead in shell

and 4 left to hatch she is great mum

all chicks will be normal as dad is not split anything

and im hoping to get normals and / lacewing cocks :} not bothered how many of each as all chicks will be normal cock or hens

cocks will be split to lacewing nothing else :}

im really honestly not in the story telling mood but im not abandoning this ship

im just taking a bit of time for me

i rarely do this

and i really need it :{

i also lost a grey/ino cock today my 06 boy

rip beautiful boy and thanks for leaving a beautiful very handy hen for me to work with in my stud :}

ill really try to find it in me to be bothered to get some pics

i have been doing other much needed and some things i just wanted to do of late rather than constantly with my birds

got my club show tomorrow 20th march

not sure if ill take anything but getting picked up to get out of house regardless

if i do take birds

ill let you know what and how i went tomorrow night that i promise

I feel your pain, GB. I HATE when that happens. (And for some reason, it happens to me a lot! :o )

Oh, and sorry about you losing your cock.

But congratulations on your show placements! :)

Yes life has it's ups and downs at times. Well done with your birds GB.

Looking forward to seeing your lacewings, as my 12 year old boy want's to breed them.

We got a first with our lace hen in novice and it got a second in the sex linked varieties.

Gb on your windows put some white tape or masking tape across them in a cross, the birds will see that it is a window, I draw wire lines on mine in the breeding cages because they were smashing into it too but the lines stopped the, I just used a black Permanent marker.

okay so i got pictures up loaded but i think i need to get you new ones as chicks have grown so so quickly

here is mummy lacewing with her two surviving chicks

BILD2275.jpg

BILD2274.jpg

her normal chick

BILD2278.jpg

the lw chick

BILD2276.jpg

also i had three more chicks hatch over last three days these are too a sky blue cinnamon hen x a agf sky blue i know the fact that she is cinnamon wont help if i get agf cock but im only wanting the hens so im not bothered i will be culling all the cocks from this pairing they were paired for foster mum in dad anyways but were un needed so hatched their own chicks with my blessing :)

the other lacewing with 7 eggs ended up hatching out three we had a big thunderstorm and the other 3 all were dead in shell :(

but three is better than none :) im glad they hatched before the storm or would have had none maybe

two other chicks have hatched and the lacewing mum has raised with her cock bird a cinnamon grey green/lw and a olive cinnamon /lw

not sure if these will stay or go yet not looking anything spectacular to me so.....

the chicks

okay moving onto my..... light green Opaline /lacewing boy (thanks splat )

along with the two half brothers i received a Opaline light green he is not related to the two half brothers at all

so have become a big part of my lacewing breeding program

i first breed him to a white Opaline lacewing hen

i culled all his clutch bar one hen due to them all being fm afflicted i did keep a yellow lacewing cock

this is him 3 months

402.jpg

397.jpg

403.jpg

381.jpg

398.jpg

354.jpg

also but after 6 months culled him as i didnt think he was that good however after seeing some the lacewings today i think i moved on that disishion to quickly :(

but have since learn t  my lesson their

so all in all i kept a Opaline light green hen

she is quite a really good bird bar her lack of a tail she has one but its not full

just before i get pics of them the father daughter and hopefully one of mum

here is a bird that kaz from her gifted me for my birthday in 2009 he is a beautiful Armstrong breed Opaline grey yf cock

DSCF0118.jpg

DSCF0117.jpg

DSCF0122.jpg

i breed him twice but his chicks never seemed better than him or his partner so i moved him on last year when i had my first big cull

:( i felt bad but he was useful to someone else so that helped not much though as he was a gift :(

okay the Opaline hen at 6 months old

not great picture but her

DSCF0116.jpg

still need to find picture of dad

here is a white lacewing cock i also got from nubbly hes the first cousin of the grey green and the cinnamon grey green cock

he was just little here

DSC02110.jpg

DSC02138.jpg

ill get new picture to compare him now

ill get picture dad (opaline light green also when im out their tomorrow and light green hen now shes a year old

thanks hilly

however im not very happy of late

i have been losing birds to sickness

and i cant get on top of it :(

i didnt really have a big flock and i lost a few main players in my plan so im really thinking to myself that show birds may be something i need to just put on back burner till i am alone with out children as ive really been neglecting them a bit due to trying to work out how to save the birds and seems this happens regularly not just here in their

when i breed my pets for people i not only got pleasure i had challenge to breed beautiful colored birds

with show its a challenge to breed good feather and solid color direction so on size but with this comes less amunity to cold chill sickness

its stupid the flight i have is like the ritz for birds and still they contract stuff get colds struggle with the winter and the summer

pets they are so more hearty

im still going to breed show birds but im going to be just breeding one family line from now on (my lacewings )

all other birds im going to breed for pleasure of colour breeding and to sell as pets or show stock if good enough for that but im not showing them im not really enjoying it as id hoped and winning doesnt even really feel good

im not a person that needs to win and i was enjoying just showing and socializing however the socializing aspect of things has changed and im not feeling like i want to be a part of it all any more

i feel im alot happier just breeding my birds and enjoying them myself

i know i can bred nice birds now and i really dont feel the need to be trying to bred better ones than others

everyone's birds are equally as beautiful as one another s and i just feel i think i dont want to be involved in picking out one bird out of hundreds to be the overall best bird so having decided this im taking a brake from all things bird

before i just decide to sell everything flight and all

so the thread will not be going anywhere further till i am ready to restart my show breeding

im leaving this sight also for a while i just going to take a rest from everything

so all take care guys may your birds all be safe and well like yourself s and to all the show breeders out their may your breeding go to planned and may you have many beautiful chicks good luck at your shows

bye for while generic blue ;)

GB, I'm sorry to hear you are going through a rough spell. :( We will miss you, hopefully you won't be away from us for too long.:)

It can be hard to balance birds with the rest of life, and I agree with you, the kids need your attention. (I know sometimes my birds and my time on the forum competes with the time my kids need.)

I hope it all works out well for you, so that you can stil enjoy the uplifting aspects of your birds. (Hugs emoticon goes here.)

I for one have enjoyed your honesty and knowledge that you have shared with others.

See you back here soon.

well things are uncontrol again it seems at Avalon house

i have lost quiet a few good birds tad disappointing and sad

i have treated birds for cocci and canker as the cocci was a wrong diagnosis and i scratched my head over and over

all the signs were their all the things

then i relized one thing that made me think canker

the birds had been blotting crops just a bit but thats a sure sighn so i grabbed out a albino cock that looked under weather turbosole down gullet and next day 100 percent

he was not good at all in fact he had blood when i cropped him and not through cropping needle or injury it came up out of crop so ..

birds have been on a 5 day treatment of turbosole now they all on fresh water

one hens still not good im crop feeding her back to health i lost her sister im not sure if im going to be able to get her fully good but ill try my darn-est

im still undesided where im going

show birds

or pleasure birds

and for now im just breeding two pair with a few foster pairs up

i have some chicks come out but nothing im keeping

it will all be culled exept my / lacewing chicks from my house line

if im going to keep showing i need to really concentrate on my older better pairs before i lose them all

i had a bout of fm and i dont keep fm chicks even if they grow flights back so a few wasted breedings their and being older birds one round is was plenty i just hope now the fm issues cleared up

i did all i should and could to eradicate it these last chicks only one real mild case out of 6pairs so looks like i have done it moved the chick out straight up to its own cage with dad to keep feeding him even though hes old enough i find helps if dad keeps feeding till he decids to stop

so theirs a little up date :} from me

Good to here things are on track Gb, just breed how you feel, breed for you, you can still try and breed exhibition type birds and you don't have to show, I know plenty of people in clubs that are very active with the club but never show and some of them have great birds too.

Hey! Good to see you are back and to hear that the birds are on the mend.

Show birds can be a real stress and sometimes seems like it's not worth it. We all know how you feel there GB. Just take a few deep breaths and slow down your plans to get to the top! Without that pressure losing birds is not such a big deal and you will eventually get there. I just get the feeling that you want it to happen straight away and that when things set you back (as they will with show birds), your plans get derailed and your motivation takes a plunge. Enjoy the birds for what they are and don't place as big an emphasis on winning - that WILL get you unstuck really fast.

Slow and steady wins the race. And sometimes the path there is long and winding!

Main thing though is to take care of you and if it IS too stressy then maybe show birds are not for you.

it is not so much the birds nubbly

and im not in a rush to win what i have won now i think is actually quiet an achievement as i had no expectations of toughs birds getting so far

it is more the realization that people are never really who they precept to be

and i joined club to get myself out into a community of common interest with others however no ones really interested in being your friend as such just what you can do for them or what money they can make from you

im lucky i have been blessed to of fallen by way of decant breeders like yourself whom honestly want to help and support other breeders

but i get down hearten when i hear others being talked of and bad mouthed spesh if i know that its **** and its mainly out of jealousy

some go as far as to yell things out from back of room when their birds are beaten on bench and rightfully with reason and its this type of thing that makes me want to give it in

i have enough birds i have breed now off a few common family's now that if i cant breed a decant few birds then i may as well give it away however

its not that

its the attitude of a small few but even though not all that many its not something i want to be around

its childish and disturbing that others can be so two faced due to their own lack of breeding skills and knowledge on how to improve their problem areas instead of asking advice or help just whine and bad mouth toughs who are having success

sad really im not going to travel few hours to have to hear it all day at a show how that bird is this and that bird only won cause or how much did they pay the judge its bull yes i know it happens everywhere

but why do you think i have been a mushroom my whole life

i may just send birds with others rather than show myself if it comes to it
