March 1, 201114 yr Author okay so i went out and took some pics of my birds before and i grabbed a snap of my albino auction buy here he is not the best picture it does not show his size or structure very well this blurry but better view this bit better so i said id post some pics of my cinnamon spangles chicks this is her chicks from the first pairing i did a sky blue spangle cock / cinnamon a pet shop buy 20.00 paoli breed cock 09 turns out he was from some very good stock so i hit a little jack pot (he is not very large bird but has everything else ) a cinnamon sky blue spangle cock a sky blue spangle / cinnamon cock and a white df spangle cinnamon cock (im only guessing cinnamon as his feet are pink i have to get picture from different place so will get him latter next clutch from her and a cobalt normal/opaline cock i got a skyviolet Opaline hen i culled her due to size and well someone needed some nice hens so shes with them now i believe she will come out very very nice when molted their was a sky spangle cock in this clutch too whom is still with me but is fm afflicted so im bound to cull him also but will give him some time i dont have a picture at hand another one to add for later :} i told splat id get some pics of the young from my splat hen Dianne is her name her they are to a violet grey dom pied cock / opaline im stuck feeding them gggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr a sky blue spangle dom a violet grey a violet spangle im feeding them every three hours its so messy my house is again a pig sty i just got it cleaned (eyes rolling in head ) more later i will get together a few the birds i was helpped get started with from members kaz and Renee and my nubbly 5 birds :} Edited March 1, 201114 yr by GenericBlue
March 1, 201114 yr Those babies are looking really promising , especially the spangle pied and the violet grey, really nice, I can see frontal rise and good width across the face. I hope they feed probably for you. The one you got back from you know who how did she or he turn out.
March 1, 201114 yr Author only got this picture from when i got her shes big solid hen but i think its mostly fat she has a very small head compared o this picture i will get you one of her now very disappointing that :{ i learn't the first lesson in the showing game if a very well known and established breeder offers to take your hen and breed her to a really nice cock to apparently help you out SAY NO unless they bring a cock to your home do not be as silly as i was to think that they would be honest and actually want to help you to :{ if it wasnt for my mentor i truly doubt i would have my hen back let alone one of the 10 chicks they breed but you live and learn

March 1, 201114 yr Author yes make a good story to teach others that even the very nice ones have three faces however as you say their is enough details supplyed to just know that my word is of wise warning to all beginners it happens to all i think beginner or not you just need to know your true friends as they will be the ones whom wont ever ask you to take a bird from your home they will always offer to have the shared pairing cock or hen at your own home yes finne my mentor is one of a kind not only does he go out of his way to help me and drop in ones every month or few weeks but he also helps several others ranging from beginner and moving up to intermediate and i think maybe ever open n champion a truly generous person with his time and help i have alot of trouble getting to and from the shows as i do not drive and if i havent managed a lift home he will quiet often offer one to me and the thing i find actually the best is hes not even from my club yet this does not stop him from helping me achieve my gold to breed and show birds of quality most my club are very busy and their daily jobs take most their time or they live miles away the few whom are close really have no spare time to be able to offer a steady flow of assistance yet i do know that they will do their best to get someone to pop in and assist me if i am in real need as they have gone out of their way to ring around for me at times of need before i was actually being assisted full time things he assists with is basic like just assessing the birds i have breed chatting about what look i want to instill in my flock what breeders i am more likely going to achieve this look from by using their birds recognizing condition with in breeding stock recognizing hens that are supplement feeding only not nourishment feeding recognizing hens whom are risk of egg bound or recognizing temperament changes in with in a breeding pair building of a family bird over colour recognizing mistakes like doubling up on bad features feather problems when and why to pull a pair out for any reason from gone out of condition to not being healthy eg sickness has invaded them either through stress or a cock over doing the feeding of hen hes helped me understand and maintain my belief that a good bird is not always a expensive one and how to use a smaller well breed hen to my advantage or for that matter a smaller well breed cock to a better visually appearing hen i really owe a lot of thanks to him as i must really do his head in with all my yattering and questions and for his confidence and encouragement in my ability to achieve something :}
March 1, 201114 yr I really wish I had a mentor like yours It must give you some confidence that if something goes wrong you have someone to call. Edited March 2, 201114 yr by **KAZ**
March 1, 201114 yr Author well i dont really ever have anything go wrong i pretty much was already mostly aware of issues that can arise but its good if i just need to ask a question like say i have a Chickie which would be better off destroyed sooner rather than latter and we all get the od one its just nice to know i have a second opinion also if i think my flocks unwell i can reflect on him and his opinion which is great as i find im a bit obsessed with the health of my flock and im always worryed theirs something wrong to be honest if it was not for him id probbly given it in as i would stress more than injoy and id just gone back to pets as they dont have any of the issues show birds bring i still dislike calling him as i feel im impossing on his life and time so i normally just hang in their till i see him most times i end up just following my own instinct about something if i have a big issue i will call but thats not often what he does most for me is reinforces in my self that to continue in the game as theirs many breeders whom do give you the time of day its just finding one i have many people whom i can discuss and talk to about anything now it took a while however i worked out a small majority whom are truly willing to be of assistance and for all diffrent things regarding different issues and information i may be seeking some people are very good at pretending they are on your side and helping but only few truly are ive found yet i just smile and listen to everyone take in what i know to be honest help and filter the rest from one ear and out the other mostly you can tell a honest breeder as they dont stand around bagging all the rest nor do they crack it when their bird is put down a place due to judges decision its a hobby after all and okay so some people have money and win through buying top birds and breeding them to each other year after year not really ever establishing their own true line n to tell you the truth ' if i never win against these people i would not care as i know when i finally start winning on the bench it will be from my own breeding decisions are learn't ability to pair after all to me its not the win its about its the socializing and consent learning of others experiences and the satisfaction knowing that even if my birds are not coming up top that i have improved every season on what i am breeding maybe ill never have birds like these top benches but im not really chasing that im enjoying the experience and the joy of going into my flight and seeing a new life or the development of a young chick into a beautiful creature of in my view grace and cheekiness all rolled in one my birs really are a rock for me and a out let from my daily routine of being unable to get out and about much i can sit their for hours and just let the days pass and not feel like im missing anything as im actually experiencing something a lot dont get to TRANQUILITY AND PEACE Edited March 1, 201114 yr by GenericBlue

March 9, 201114 yr This worries me about the shows as we need encouragement and a reason to stay in show birds. The good bit is your on your way to some very nice birds, well done! GB I have my first club show this weekend and I'm only entering two birds and one of them is for my 12 year old who is the only junior in our club. His is a white lacewing and mine is a cinnamon grey spangle both were bred from a cock bird who is a cinnamon grey green opaline which we got from a auction, and the hen is from Daz, a opaline grey spangle sounds a lot like you with your birds. There okay and I'm just putting them in for a bit of fun.
