GB when I first saw your albino cock I thought he could be a mop.

But I think he's just a monster of a bird for only 25 days old.

Hope he comes on strong for you, because he does look like a cracker.

Haha you have a bird thats growing super fast like mine GB :)

Though yours is much more beautiful :P

Its good to hear that you're having some success after all that you revealed about how the hobby is going for you.

I hope the streak continues :)

is but one baby hun

although hes not out the nest yet so may not make it to breeding age the chances are he will but theirs always the possibility of losings him

well if im going to get anywhere i have to get 7th at least next shields in albino young birds

and 6th in ubc lacewing

or my birds have not improved

going to be lots of work and very thoughtful breeding involved

I'm just looking at positives.

I know I don't breed at a scale as you do GB,

but one chick that has the makings of a winner would still bring on a positive outlook.

Like you said, the beginnings of your albinos improving maybe :)

also this is the normal rate of growth maddy for a good show bird so your baby now is not growing fast quick he is being looked after properly this intern making it possible for him/her to be maximizing his potential

Sound good Gb, I hope all goes to plan.

I have a hen that I bred last year with no hassles and the cock was a father last year too and they were great parents but the little so and so s this year.

The hen which is a violet opaline daughter of my best violet and the cock a light green son of my big green green cock, They laid the first egg and she or he destroyed it so I put a false egg in to deter her, well it worked she went on and laid another 7 eggs all fertile and due to hatch at the weekend BUT I did my rounds before and the little so and so s, 2 eggs broken open, the last 2 she laid by the looks of it, the other 5 were still there so I grabbed them out and fostered them. aggrrh

I am the same GB. I a itching to put some pairs down, as this will be the first time I have really had my new breeding shed in full swing with cages all set up and ready to go. The only thing that is stopping me is the weather. Bring on some heat....please!!!!

Hi Gb, I have had the same disaster here, very disappointing and heart breaking , i had over 48 fertile eggs and I have only 18 chicks survive, I have had most of them die at one day old because the hens won't feed them. I have had a couple die at 10 days old. And the other nest had all clear eggs. I put more pairs down I think about 8 pair and only one nest with have fertile eggs, the rest all clear. One hen sits to tight so her eggs didn't hatch which was very disappointing.

The chicks range from 5 weeks down to about 10 days old. I have bred a couple of really good clearbodies and a really nice spangle and 2 nice grey greens so far. oh and a nice grey hen, so am happy with the quality I have bred, most of them will be keepers so far.

Yesterday Geoff helped me pair more up, so I have 32 cages going URGGhh. But this time we plucked the **** out of their below area, and it was amazing how much heavy dark down my birds carry. So have my fingers crossed now.

14 my own breed op spangle grey and my own breed sky blue spangle /cinnamon boy

15 a cinnamon spangle hen (splat hens daughter ) to a gng white lacewing cock

16 sky blue spangle cock bird mp1 to a my breed opaline light green hen

i also have an albino and a clearbody

and a light green and a grey but not sure they will actually do anything so ....

i paired up on 3 different days as to spread my work out first lot on the 13th july 6 pairs

then on the 19th july 6 pairs then the rest on the 25 july this way the birds are staggered and its less over whelming for me

to clean each lot of cages and i get to injoy each clutch as it grows as they are all spread out to hatch diffrent weeks

to date i have 14 eggs :)

17 albino hen my own to a opaline violet grey /ino jg2 (this pair is just finishing raising before a rest )

so thats it im just breeding for variety numbers at moment not so much for show prospects
