Hi everyone, here are some photos of some of my blue ringers, and a couple of birds that were blue rings but I cut their rings off and now they are red ringers because last year between September and December I double ringed. BIG mistake and will never do it again.

Sorry no pics yet because I am having trouble coping and pasting from photo bucket. Is any one else having problems because it has changed or is it me only. Every time I try to select a photo to copy it doesn't high light for me to do it, it just comes up as copy in where it should be high lighted and then just disappears and some some global setting and something about flash player comes up. Instead of copy when I click on thee mouse.

SO can any one help please.

What I mean is when I select the IMG code it normally highlights so then you can select copy by clicking the mouse BUT now when I select the IMG code it flashes copy then goes away.

I thought if you click the link and 'Copied' flashes up all you have to so is then come in here and paste it by right clicking and selecting 'paste'... That's what happened last week...

Try right clicking the photo and clicking on 'view image', that should take you to a web page with just the image itself and the web address can be copied and pasted here as the link for the picture. Alternatively just right click the image you want and click "copy image location" and paste that?

Done all that Dean, I thought going into the picture only would work too but it's the same as the other page, when I click on the IMG code, where it should come up high lighted so I can right click, instead the word 'copy' flashes there and goes away as fast as it flashes and then

when I do right click , the little page that normally comes up with the copy on it doesn't instead The lines come up, one says settings which I can't access and the two things I can access are 'Global settings'. and the next lines 'about flash player 10'

I really don't know what is going on. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried using the shortcuts?

-Copying, control c

- Pasting, control v

Try highlighting it then pressing control c and that should copy what has been highlighted.

If that does not work I have no idea, Good luck with it splat, looking forward to seeing these birds

Hmmm I just went to photo bucket and clicked the link (normal left mouse click) and 'Copied' Flashed up... then I came here, right clicked and selected paste and the link came up... don't know why it isn't working for you...

If you want copy the URL up the top of your browser and post that here... someone might be able to figure out what is going wrong...

Great bet you can't wait. The way I am going my birdroom will never get finished. On hold until after Christmas. I decided buying seed 200kg and 30 kilos of Jap millet and new tyres for my car was more important.

But I will get there.

Good luck Jimmy.

Nice DF's there, I like how the first Two their body width doesnt change as it comes into the head , Just all width right through the head .

Flecking, Yeah can be a problem , but I think of it as a small fault , I dont really know anout how the inheretance works with the flecking , if it is inhereated at all?. One thing I do is breed with the hens and only use the best of the best flecked cocks to clean hens where possible.

Thank you Matt, Yes I need to work on the flecking but what was wierd is that the violet cock only has light flecking and both sky hens I put him with were both clean, but i got heavy flecking.

DF factors yes the third one doesn't have the feather the other 2 have or the height above the head but he is still very young so it might come. That line is late bloomers could take until his second moult. But he still has the same genes as the other 2 so he might be handy to keep.

I would put that sky opaline cinnamon opaline into your DF spangle line if you are worried about flecking. Unless you are worried about bringing cinnamon and / or opaline into your spangle line, the first batch of chicks would all be SF spangles (if you paired her to a DF) and then the best (with or without flecking) could be put back to spangles.

I've heard of a few breeders selling some amazing birds because of flecking only to have others use them to great effect in INO or DF spangle breeding where the flecking becomes a non-issue.

Of course if you dont want cin/op just breed her to a DF spangle and keep only her normal spangle daughters - cin/op problem solved and you get to use her style/looks in spangle lines :)

Dean are you talking about the sky cinn op spangle hen. If so she is full sister to the white boys but I can put her with her dad (yellow df sp)or her white nephews (white boys) what do you think.

Ooops I know what you mean.. okay I can put the violet cinn in too as she is heavy flecked, those 2 hens have the same dad but different mums. That sky cin op has a really ice sister too who is sky cinn , she on the cards. too

Thanks for that idea.

I am going to have fun next year becaus eit will be the first time that I am going to be putting cousins to cousins, really excited. That say that's when you breed your good birds. Lets hope lol

Next year I will be putting half brother to half sister, all sired from the same cinnamon opaline cobalt cock. I'll be interested to see the results as he has been paired now with.... 5 hens off the top of my head and produced about 13 offspring thus far. There are also 4-5 eggs of his currently showing fertile so Im hoping to have about 10 pairs of half brothers/sisters to put down come next year so long as the sexes are balanced. If there are extra hens I will put the worst (or best?) back to the original cock as Im curious to also see what that would do as it is the quickest way to reveal any bad faults that may crop up in the half brother/sister pairs or in the general family line.

It may also be the quickest way to get more chicks that look like the original cock but it will be a once off pairing IF i do it. The reason I would consider putting his worst daughter back to him is because she will have 50% of his genes and it will obviously be the 50% of the hens genes making her so crappy, so of all the chicks that hen would theoretically benefit the most from going back to the cock to produce chicks with a minimum of 50% of the cocks genes and a maximum of 100% (theoretically although the law of averages would probably say the chicks would likely get 60-70% of his genes total).

Edit: Ooops yes I did mean the violet cinn op above :)

I used the violet cock on 4 different hens this year and he produced quite a few nice birds including the sky and violet cinnamon opaline hens above. His brother has 3 nice young birds.

I haven't actually done half brother half sister yet, I tried but cleared eggs same with father daughter but hopefully next year.

The violet, old picture

His brother, old picture

The white df spangle has chicks from 3 different hens. The related hens were the best chicks by far.

Good luck with yours Dean.

A few more birds,

This cock who is still going through his first moult is from a related line, he has 2 grey green opaline sisters, actually I think they are violet green. All nice

cobalt yellow face opaline
