I did this two months ago, I moved from Melbourne to rural Victoria (Charlton), and I love it. My house is 115 years old, full of character and history, and we are not allowed to make changes to the front of the house or cut down a tree in the front yard as it was the first ornamental tree planted in Charlton. You are going to love it Kaz, and your new house is gorgeous and FULL of character, charm and history. Like you, I also moved a mammoth amount of stuff 3.5 hours away, lots of back and forth drives was exhausting, and it took two weeks to fully move. Go for it girl! Best of luck for a nice smooth move. Matt Thanks heaps Matt. Would love to see your house too. Have you looked on the renovate forum ? http://www.renovateforum.com heaps of good info there Link to comment https://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?/topic/29625-if-you-couldwould-you/page/4/#findComment-358044

Finne as JB says its all to do with in-breeding - you know, six fingers, two heads, that kind of thing. The joke here is that any inbred country hick town produces people that have a scar on their neck where the second head was cut off! Must be a bit of an Aussie-ism I guess . How goes the big move planning Kaz? Edit.... why is it that I never seem to make it to the very END of the thread before posting in reply to something written ages ago - sheesh!!!! Sorry all, my reply was to Finnies question about two heads etc. Edited December 4, 2010 by nubbly5 Link to comment https://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?/topic/29625-if-you-couldwould-you/page/4/#findComment-358159

Settlement is on the 17th Dec and we will move some stuff over that weekend, and again over Christmas. We are doing it slowly over 3-4 weeks as Ken still has to work and me likewise. We also have to get somewhere ready for the birds to go once we get them there. No rush. We are moving over a few weeks. Today we took a three tonne truck and large trailer ( use of trailer thanks to RIPBudgies ) and with the help of friends we shifted the first lot. Tomorrow we do the same again. We will also be moving through Christmas and Boxing Day too looks like. My leadlight workshop will be hard. I have hundreds of sheets of leadlight glass, plus tools and equipment. Last thing to move will be the birds ( Ken's parrots, finches, quails and canaries ) and my budgies. We have to set up aviaries down there, even if they are only temporary. Warm day today but the house when we got there was quite cool. Must be those 13 ft ceilings. So far we have done three 3 tonne truckloads down to Collie. Most of our furniture ( and additional furniture for the bigger house ) has gone, most household stuff. What little is left in the house makes me feel like we are camping out. Hardest thing to move will be my leadlight workshop stuff ( glass and tools ) and moving all the birds. We cant move all the birds until we have some temporary aviaries down there to move them to. What a let down, having to go from my lovely spacious aviaries and birdroom to a hodge podge of cr*ppy little aviaries all joined up to temporarily house the birds. Got a free aviary yesterday off GUMTREE....around 3.5m by 1.8m and we were there this morning disassembling it. I have another aviary thats 4m by 2m. My birds are currently in a 6m by 4m space.
