We were to have had paid help to erect the aviaries down there but that deal has fallen through So as well as having to move most weekends we now have to do the aviaries ourselves before we can take the birds down. Other MAJOR move will involve my leadlight workshop materials and tools and benches/cupboards etc. I bought a 3m by 2.2m aviary with safety door on Saturday. It had a welded frame and was very well made. I took the angle grinder and cut the aviary in half lengthwise, we put it on the trailer and took it 2 and a half hours away to the new house. I bought a length of box tubing slightly less than the box tubing the aviary was welded out of, cut in into short lengths around 100mm, inserted each piece into a section of box tube I had cut through, screwed it in with metal tech screws and rejoined the aviary in this way. We then added the roof and the back wall sheeting, Aviary is back together but so far isnt level on the ground, nor have we worked out what we are doing with the floor of the aviary. Time isnt on our side so we havent time to do a concrete floor in this case. I may have to get this floor section level and then put concrete slabs or brick paving inside for flooring. Suggestions welcome. PS more aviaries to erect as well before I can transport the birds. Moving stuff is on hold till we can get the aviaries up and running. Photos taken before we added the sheeting to back wall and I have yet to rejoin the seperated aviary wire at the front. The guy we bought the aviary off had cut wooden blocks that sit on top of the frame and are screwed down with the roofing screws into the frame, thus no gaps for rodents ............very well thought out I reckon Edited January 25, 2011 by **KAZ** Link to comment

They have a 45 degrees sloping edge and they slip into each other, with every second one upside down. I used to use them. Works well for a while. Link to comment

Devoting time to this is hard when its a 5 hr return trip each day and all we can do so far is weekends.......still moving furniture and effects as well. We will work something out this weekend I guess or erect the second aviary. We are tired from all the packing and moving and our energy levels are down the gurgler Edited January 25, 2011 by **KAZ** Link to comment

Its achievable. We can do other things later on. Link to comment

We worked out today I will have a space of approximately 8 metres by 5 metres. The only things making it slightly difficult will be an existing shed set high on an overkill kinda cement slab which my husband refuses to demolish so I have to use that slab as part of the new construction and there is a tree at the back which can stay but we will have to take out on of its large branches facing the yard. here's the area for the garage and in this photo it shows the shed, the tree and some of the area to the right.....there's another 2 metres or so to the right that I can use and 2 metres forward from the shed I can use too. I wont be keeping the current aviaries as far as I know, but things evolve so we will see. This wont happen overnight unless I get a massive injection of spare cash. Link to comment

It looks so inviting on the outside, i wonder what it is like on the inside. You're so lucky, you are ! All i can do is dream ! But, anyway, I can't help you really, from over here. I guess all I can do is give you some encouraging comments, and perhaps suggest a few things too. Although I can't think of anything to suggest, sorry. So, keep at it, I'm sure you'll have a very nice house and some very nice budgies too once you begin breeding. Edited September 23, 2011 by ~ Charly ~ Link to comment
