This is the front and the sink is going just inside the door, that's why one of the uprights has been moved over so the plumbing goes into the wall cavity, funny I have a licenced plumber doing it for me a couple of birds, he put the bathroom vanity unit in for 6 birds very cheap I thought. I made Greg pay me for them and I went off and bought the wood to line my shed. the roof Just waiting on insul bats now. Link to comment

I really don't think I thought about it at the start. But I need my insul bats I think 3 bags and that's not so bad but the lining wood is going to cost an arm and a leg. Figuring nearly $400.00. then I need to paint it. Once all that is done then I need to make all the breeding boxes because I have decided to stick with them because the wire cages take up to much space and make to much mess , yes I know they are easier to clean and stack away, that's their good points, But they are messy. Figured if I make the melemine (how ever you spell it) to the size I have already got I good fit about 30 cages. Wire ones about 24. Anyway still deciding, I have plenty of time. Oh I have an upgrade on one of my aviaries also, last year I did that fake cement and I haven't been happy about it since because very rough and hard to clean. Well Greg fixed it last week, went right over it and it is lovely and small. I love it now. The aviary is a little shorter in height now though. He is going to do the other one next week so then all done. happy Link to comment

You can get whitecoated ply or whitecoated mdf sheets way cheaper and you dont have to paint because its already white coated. Generally around 1200 by 2400 size sheets for around $12. Ply board 8 or 9ml 1200x2400 $27.00 to $31.00 a piece. White coated which is melamine right or wrong anyway that is heaps dearer. I don't want thin ply board but anyway that is between $20.00 - $27.00 for 1200x 2400 a piece. I need at least 9 pieces for the walls and 4 for the ceiling but for the ceiling i need to use some light weight but water proof just in case so thin ply board would be no good it will rot so I am opting for 8 or 9 ml ply which is out door stuff so will not rott. If I could find something for $12.00 I would grap it right now. Where do you buy yours from Kaz? Link to comment

I was going to use that for the ceiling but if the roof leaks it will rot. Plus not really thick enough. Yes 2 walls get really really hot so I was thinking something thicker will keep the heat out more. But I just had a thought a couple of hours ago, I am going up to my local hardware store and see if they have some packing board which is chipboard. I use to get it a couple of years ago for around $5. 1200x2400. But there are new owners now so they may say no and charge heaps more. BUT NO HARM IN TRYING. But I still will need to get ply for ceiling. Link to comment

Because mice can run along the roof and shimmy in and nest in the ceiling if you dont block those holes. No hole over 10mm PS they can eat through space invader foam. Today I bought a couple of bags of bats, polyester thank god because putting it up on the ceiling was so hard, it kept falling down on me. I ended using string to keep it there. I have only done one panel took me forever. So hard. Anyway I bought all the wood for the ceiling. I had to get it all cut up n to panels, so it would fit in my little car. I bought 4 pieces of 8ml ply was 1200mmm wide and 2400mm long so I had to get them to cut it right down the middle so it was 600mm wide and then I ask them to cut it 147mm for my length, which is half the she ceiling, it fitted in the car that way. I ended up with 16 pieces all up.. It is a pain doing it like that but at least I can hold pieces like that up on my own but if I left it full length I would need help. The hardest thing was trying to keep the bats in place and after using the string it still was bulgie. But just the one piece I did was great couldn't feel the heat from the roof at all, but where i haven't done was quite warm. Tomorrow I will have another go at. I hope to get one whole side done tomorrow if I can. Will take some photos of my work if I get time. I am just hoping all my joins turn out neat and tidy or I would of wasted a heap of money. Yes Macka, drove all the way to his place, I have been told since that he is cutting back on his sales from his door. He wants the clubs to buy pallets. So at our last meeting I brought it up and yep our club is ordering 3 times a year now, so that makes me happy. Link to comment

When Greg re did my aviaries the biggest one he did a **** job. Well not really but I really don't know what he was thinking when he did it because he put a fall on it which is great but he took it lower than how I already had it and all the droppings and what ever collect at the front and when it rains it is dreadful, all this pooey water just sits there for the poor birds to drink and die. You see he took the front to the bottom of the of the rail on the floor instead of it going to the top for everything to flow out like droppings and water. Aviaries are open at front so rain gets in about 1 foot. Anyway today I put some more cement down to build it up and and for it to drain out BUT I am worried it will break away because it isn't very thick in places. BUT does look much better. Anyway why I am writing is because Greg just put down some kind of resin on his pigeon loft, seals rock hard and is as smooth as a babies behind. I would like to use it on the front of this aviary in hope that it will save it from cracking but I don't really know if is is safe. SO MY QUESTION IS has anyone ever used this resin stuff. Directions are 2 parts resin 1 part harder. Tradesmen use it in garages etc. We have know info on it as Greg got it from work from a tradesmen. I am thinking of using it on my new birdroom floor instead of tiles or lino. But I am a bit weary on the aviary floor. So if anyone knows can you please send me a PM to let me know. I did look on the internet and I did find that some resin are made from plant material. Cheers Link to comment

I am now ready to put the walls on and then paint the lot. ceiling half done ceiling finished Walls My Christmas present from Greg A mitre sliding compound saw it came with stand and a roller work stand. So really happy, getting there, but I do need to make a veranda out the front where the door and window is because the heat that comes in there in thearvo is horrorific. I new that was going to happen but it is worse than I thought. I have the door and window all facing the wrong way but I had NO choice. But I plan on making a veranda about 3and 1/2 feet deep and as long as the shed and shade the door and window. But still need air in there plus light. I need another window at the back for airflow but that means I loose another wall so still deciding. More updates as more gets done. Link to comment
