I did not realise at first and put it in the nestbox but the hen threw it out. I put a fake egg in the nestbox to try to give her the hint of where she should lay the nest egg. Pair 2 have four eggs of their own and a foster egg. She appears to be incubating the eggs well. Pair 3 have their first egg layed in the nestbox Pair 4 - one of them ate their first egg so I removed the second egg. I have placed 2 fake eggs in the nestbox and the hen has decided to "incubate" these eggs. With any luck she will lay a few more and not eat them. I will see how she goes. Link to comment

Well he kept her because she is a top hen, she came 7th I think at the uncap show when she was a baby. But he has never got anything out of her. I have been lucky she laid the first round and destroyed eggs, so when she laid second time I left eggs there for a bit and when I relised they were fertile I tranfered them and now I have 3 little babies very happy. I have her with my white df spangle son of my white df spangle and I plan on doing the same thing again  But I am thinking they might not be fertile as it is too soon since she laid the last lot. Babies have just being rung. Link to comment

Anyway, enough with that. Here we go. The pics are a day old, so the egg count might be different to the number of eggs in the pics. Pair 1 - 3 eggs Pair 2 - 5 eggs of their own and 1 foster Pair 3 - 4 eggs pair 4 - 2 eggs (and 1 that has been fostered out) - the two small eggs you see are fakes that encourage her to not eat the other eggs I also put some other pairs down. Pair 5 - I paired two Gregoriou birds together. His birds are based on Scoble bloodlines and this was at his suggestion to maintain the bloodlines. Opaline Cobalt Cock with a Green Normal Hen Pair 6 - A Gregoriou hen to a son of Dumber(RIP). This hen was tried previously and she ate her eggs. She paired up with this cock in the aviary and I thought that they might have more luck if paired together. Violet Opaline Spangle Cock with a Cinnamon Winged GreyGreen Hen Pair 6 - A stunning Gregoriou Green Normal Cock to a dark marked Green Spangle Hen (could only find a yng picture - update later) Pair 7 - Dumb to an Lovely Dommie Pied with the lot (almost) Opaline Sky Spangle Cock with an Opaline Green Spangle Domminant Pied Hen Edited September 13, 2010 by Dave_McMinn Link to comment
