It requires an operation of some length. When this happens in my aviary I simply put the bird down if the damage is too severe. Edited May 25, 2010 by RIPbudgies Link to comment

Any good information no offence but not speculation and guessing i need to hear from someone who's had this happen before I went to the vet today to get him some pain killers all though his beak is a little loose in one corner at his top beak the vet said if i can keep him in and comfortable with pain meds the damage should grow out as he's only young,so he is being crop nedled and given extra doses of calcivet in his food to help it along. He is a gorgeous dominant pied and only a baby.If i had noticed it sooner it wouldn't have happened but his top beak grew long (like a Corella's) into his tongue he is resting and on anti inflammatory meds twice per day, nothing else i can do but keep him warm and comfy while he recovers. Thanks for everyone's input Link to comment
