The standards were removed as it seems that the images and information in them were illegally taken off another website, breaking copyright law. Like we do for all posts that contain information and images that belong to others, we removed the standards to ensure that we ourselves were not breaching any national and/or international laws.

We do need standards on this site, so we need to either look at creating some posts ourselves, or look to legally source some from others.

I did some digging into copyright law some time ago for reasons best left off this forum.

It seems that copyright is not infringed if the information is for educational purposes only. Copyright is infringed when it is sold with intention to make money. There are also different copyright laws affecting different areas i.e interlectual, musical, artistical.

I would dare say that if the ANBC were contacted I don't see why they could not allow you to reprint for this forum.

Kaz has provided a link and may be sufficient anyhow.

RIP, I know exactly what you are saying. As an IT teacher in high school, I teach about copyright, and I am well aware of the educational use of copyrighted items.

Unfortuantely the way it was done before was not correct thus the removal. There was no malice in the actions, just it was incorrect.

I think contacting whoever controls the standards may well result in our being allowed to post them on here, as they are meant to be.

Yeah Dave, completely understand the reason for removal. Have no problems with it at all. As with most things the intentions are sincere. Few people are aware of laws and most don't think to check if something is correct or not.

I am the sort of person who never takes what is said as gospel, I am just not that gullible. I always check things out and over the years have collected legal requirements on many subjects.

I personally agree that it would be worthwhile investigating about it. I have The Standard, but I knwo some members on here don't and it helped me alot before I got it.
