Well, everyone seems so excited to get your input, that I have decided to kill two birds with one stone... (um, am I allowed to say that here?) Anyway, I'm working on posting all my birds for color/ mutation i.d., so I will start with Finnie. Please click here . Again, welcome, it's great to have you here! Link to comment

One photo shows quite clearly the tail and the quill is dark grey which means she is greywing. A clearwing has a neutral tail quill. Hope that clears it up for you. Clearwing Link to comment

With greywings as with all colours of budgerigar they come in a range of shades ie light green, dark green, olive or sky blue, cobalt, violet. I believe the wing colour is the same in greywings, this one just happens to be light. clearwing Link to comment

It generated quite a bit of fun along the way with two sparring camps You can read it here Also, this next picture is a new bird I got yesterday...10 weeks old. The picture doesn't show the true colours (sorry, it's winter here so need a flash)...very pale yellow face and pale yellow sporadically on the body, pale powder blue where you see blue. obviously a pied....but it's the wings I'm interested...such a pale grey...greywing, clearwing or something else. As you can see, I'm still learning and have a long way to go! My new bird Unfortunately, the place I got this bird clips all their wings so hope that doesn't make it too much harder to tell. IN answere to your question re the light green, it is difficult from the photos but he could be a clearwing or the product of a clearwing mated to a greywing, unfortunately I haven't had much success with cocks that go brown in the cere, they are normally infertile, let me know how you go if you breed with him. I wouldn't "egg-nore" you! You have lots of good information that helps me learn things. In fact, it was your comment and the way the others responded to it that gives me a lot to compare to figure it out! Also, this next picture is a new bird I got yesterday...10 weeks old. My new bird Unfortunately, the place I got this bird clips all their wings so hope that doesn't make it too much harder to tell.DF, your new bird is LOVELY! I can't wait to see if that yellow spreads through more. I don't think the wing clip matters. I bet when they grow back, they will be pure white, as she is a dom pied. I am also guessing that her tail is white, too, is it not? I haven't learned tail colors, yet, only cheek patch, and so far, I don't think that is helping me much! But I will ask anyway, in real life, are the cheek patches paler, or brighter than your other, normal birds? (One thing I can identify, is that the cheek patches have white areas from the pied mutations! Yay for me, finally!) Link to comment
