Is This Normal For A 13 Week Old Chick?

Featured Replies

He is trying to "get busy" with anything that stands still long enough!! All my other chicks are females and don't seem quite so driven.

kids these days - lol

I was going to say BOYS!!! They're the same in all species!!!

I to wouldn't be too worried. He'll soon figure out what it's for...

he may be an early starter but you have nothing to worry about

I think I'm mostly worried about it traumatizing the 13 week old female chicks in the same cage!

LOL..he seems to have figured that out already! Now I know why it's called "The birds and the bees"

Haha you need to get him a "scape goat" or rather in my aviary for the randy birds I have a "scape bunny" They all wear their *****-ness off on him hahahaha My poor Mr pancakes, but he doesn't mind...

My tame boys get a rope swing to get their "jive" on with

Whatever works will work :)

Well, never thought I'd have to ask a question like this, but how do you get a bird to leave his sister alone (that's the part that bothers me most) and take an interest in a "scape bunny"? Do you just have Mr Pancakes hanging in the cage? I'm assuming Mr Pancakes (LOVE that name, By The Way) is a stuffed toy?

haha oh no no no  Mr pancakes is a real rabbit at the bottom of the aviary haha :)

If the hens are getting really distraught by it seperate the cock

He seems annoyed about it in this, but now days he just sits there and lets them  They do it on his head and all sorts, he doesn't care, i think he just likes the company  haha!

HAHAHAHA...That is so cool to keep a rabbit in the aviary...but doesn't he get covered in bird poop? :)

Well, a live rabbit isn't possible and I don't see any signs of the hen getting upset...although I'm not sure I'd know what that looks like!

The dynamic in that particular cage has gone all wonky anyway...his parents are also in there along with two other males. His father has seemingly shunned his mother for the attentions of one of the other males and she is terribly jealous.

It's a bit like watching a rather sordid soap opera! LOLOLOLOLOLOL

HAHA I'd just recommend more cages then  You'll have to seperate them all out to what works for them :)

Hmmm...the reason for buying two HUGE cages was to get rid of the zillion cages I had previously so I'm hoping they all find a way to work it out. Sometimes they're worse than my kids :)

  • 5 weeks later...

That's the funniest thing i've seen I always thought I had to tell my kids about the birds & the bees but now I see it's the Birds & the Bunny's.
