Wake up, shower, get dressed - don't eat yet... go check on inside birds... don't eat yet... go check on big aviary... ignore rumbling noise and apologise to the outside birds for rumbling noise from my hungry stomach... go check breeding flight, breeding cages, say nice soothing sounds to gently wake up sleepy hens and get them to feed their young... apologise to the cock birds for my grumbling hungry stomach and rub massage oils into their feet to help them get in "the mood" to create more chicks... Open up the windows at *just* the right angle to ensure they get the right amount of breeze. Go inside and feed rumbling stomach... mix up new batch of soaked seed, do the breakfast dishes, wake up the cockatiels and gently lift them from the bed and carry them out into their cage so as not to wake them - its early (only 430am... never get it all done if I slept in until 7am) make the bed, tidy up the messy feathers from the birds - what can I do with the loose feathers? IDEA, put them in the down quilt - she will *never* know that they were not "down" sleeping on her side while she is away (shh don't tell Liv)... Go to work and RELAX - yeah, no issues... work issues... Hooray! (NOT) Get home and realise I should have stayed at work... mmmmm.... clean up the inside of the house where the "kids" have had a daytime-party and trashed the house. Why is it that a Cockatiel can't clean up a shredded tablecloth on its own, and repair the new tear holes in the curtains? Replace the tablecloth... (again) *SIGH* Drain the soaked seed. Mix up the earlier batch of soaked seed, add salt, pro-biotics, chick starter. Drain the soaking sterilized water containers, mix up a new batch of doxy powder and get prepared to be bitten 4 times, fight two escapee birds and say nice things to sooth them so they will "make" more babies in the morning after I rub oil on the cock birds feet. Aromatherapy is a wonderful thing. Mix up seed in three different grades - one for breeders, one for flight birds, one for "the others" replace water, feed soaked seed, fight escapees, catch sick birds - get bitten - put sulpher drops on their beeks and cooo at them and say get better soon. Wipe blood off hands and put them back - get bitten again - wipe blood off hands and smile to myself as I remember that Liv does this everyday... Feed them all, water them all, clean up the house... realise what the noise is and feed grumbling stomach, sing karaoke to the birds until they fall asleep on my shoulders and gently put then to bed on Liv's side of the bed (waiting to collect more down feathers) and then relax for the night. I'm luvin Liv being away (not)... *sigh* and I hear she is bring more birds home... And they are BIGGER and more demanding and have been pampered worse than ours... Is that possible? Okay, but I don't know about "wacking" them in. Sits on your finger every chance he gets And ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE I think you have done well to have got hold of soo many birds that are equal to our best, or so much better, and that we can expand the recessive pieds, and create an excellent line of lacewings. The only problem is, where are you going to find a box big enough to put them in on the plane. I have thought about it for quite some time, and decided that you will need to purchase a seat on the aircraft for them And to ensure that you get a good seat, and I reckon they will give you free champagne and treats, tell them you will be traveling with Greg, House and if you get odd looks say, you know Princeton... Just don't say the word Lacewing and everything should go fine. Worse case, if you don't want to do that - a VERY large pair of Budgie Smugglers should suffice... Link to comment

Hint... 007... wack some perches in it so the birds can go in there... pleeeease Well I had a spare couple of minutes today, to wack up Liv's perches. I used the Kaz collapsible hinged version so that it makes it easy to clean underneath them by unlatching the sides so that it goes flat against the back wall. I think there is enough for the tribe of WA birds to come and stay (including the little urchin that we could mind for Dave McMinn) Interesting, had a chat with a breeder today who was very interested in the birds - his opinion was that there's a LOT of good bloodlines over there... I think he's right by the pictures of the birds I've seen. He was more than a little impressed when I mentioned whose birds we have. I'd post pictures of my collapsible, latched bird perch device, but they are only phone photos and not that good, so you can see it complete with birds sitting on it next week sometime. Note to everyone: Remember to look at the perches too next week, not just the birds. And Yes, I did paint it - a lovely cream colour ( tin cost me $24 ) but I failed there didn't I. Damn it! Should have left it unpainted, but on one hand it does look nice. Link to comment
