I do no name all mine, but I name some on personality.

If you have a picture of the bird, it will help others suggest names

I named Merlin by his color because magicans wear dark blue clothes.

I named Pretty because we just kept saying pretty bird and could never think of a name.

You can also do a google for baby names and start there too.

Have you got the bird yet? If so you could have a nameing comp with a picture of him. Thats always fun. Also yahoo answers is a good place to get names. join up there and ask. Some people are sooooooo creative.

Me? I named some for colour, some for attitude, and some randomly.

Mine are named based on personality, or looks or even named after the person I got them from :wacko:

PS Not all of my birds are named....just the special ones.

When I had pet budgies I used to try and think of unlikely and slightly unusual boy names. My beautiful Albino boy was Alfred (Alfie for short). I also had Spiros the budgie and currently have a Norman the weero.

Naming dogs is more fun (and more of a challenge) because we are registered breeders we have a kennel prefix which goes first. Then for us all of our litters get named in alphbetical order - first litter all had A names. Last litter was H.

The most fun part is when we keep a puppy and I can try and think of a registered name that goes with the dog AND a pet name that goes with the registered name. We kept 2 from our G litter so now have.....

Rakaia Gone Blue (she is a blue) and her pet name is Freeze

Rakaia Gotta Black Soul (she is black) and her pet name is Sinner

You can tell I spend way too many hours in my car :wacko:

naming is so hard, isn't it :P I have had to come up with so many names for birds lately, I've run out of ideas :P

Most our birds have had names to do with their colours.

We have Meg, which is gaelic for pearl, she is a whiteface pearl tiel, Noah was named just because we liked that name, Mango is a yellow pied pearl, Saffron is his brother a yellow pied, Shadow is our new whiteface girl tiel, she is pretty much all grey, Coco is our other new girl tiel, a cinnamon whiteface pearl, Coco after coconut as she is white with brown :)

We had another tiel who now lives with Libby, his name is Riley, again because we liked the name and the two budgies that now live with Libby are Indy, named after our Indian Ocean (yep you guessed it he is blue) and Midori and yes, indeed, he is green :)

Dash was named because he is so dashingly handsome :wacko:

But yeah, post a picture and perhaps we can all give some suggestions?

My son names all our pets (except our rescue Aussie, Sarah, who came pre-named, lol).

But for just the budgies:

Horton = from the Dr. Seuss books

Lucy = from "I Love Lucy" one of his fave shows

and their babies:

Nibbler = direct copy from Nibbler the Rally Bird, a little budgie that says "Let's Go Mets!" on a Mets blog (scroll down to hear it! http://brooklynmetfan.com/ )

Simon = for Simon Pegg

Stewart = for Jon Stewart

Colbert = for Stephen Colbert

Xena = for the youngest, who was such a little fighter in the nest!
