Heathrow - you must have me confused with somebody else! No superstars here, just a fat bloke trying to get full eggs and breed a few reasonable ones so that I have got an excuse to go to Rocky next year!

Cheers, PT

If our new "superstar" member would like to post some pictures of his birds and say Hi in the MY FLOCK area that would be great :( A link on How to Post Pictures is in my signature.

Based on your showing at Burnie I reckon there's a better than even money chance you're going to Rocky PT :(

I look forward to your contribution to the forum PT.

Chookbreeder was extremely succesfull at this Nationals in Burnie, 5 birds selected in the team and to come away with a 3rd place, a 2nd place and 3 1st places is amazing. The two minor placings came in classes which he had already won.

Keep up the Great work

Heathrow you've "outed" me!

Yes Tassie was good (except for the slow starts in the morning) and a bit of a surprise - but that doesn't mean that it's going to happen again. While there are a few useful 2009 rung youngsters kicking around here, there are a lot of things that need to go right between now and May 2010 even just to get a bird in the Vic team. Fertility for the UBC shield hasn't been what I had hoped and while some pairs now have fertile eggs, the chicks won't be old enough for the shield.

Thanks for the welcome.

Cheers, PT

welcome

and your not outed lol as i have no clue who you could be

no classes were mentioned just placings

so your still safe

um chookbreeder is that as your birds are size of chooks :(^_^

welcome again and i hope you contribute to our forum as so us new breeders to showing can learn the tricks of trade

its hard competition out their and no one to teach the do's and donts makes it harder

sometimes joining a club does not give you the suport or valued advice expected

or should i say wanted and needed

leaving us to try and source info else where such as here

the more imput and ideas lessons to learn the better and if you more successful breeders are willing to help

then i for one am so more appreciative of you all

i have lernt many things on here from many people of all breeding statis

mistakes and successes

and encourage you to please share when ever you can

even the smallest things help small breeders like myself B)

Thanks Fluffnut.

There are some useful birds at home - just got to get a few more live chicks out of them!

Our auction (Melton) went extremely well with a top of $3400 and an average of over $300. In saying that, there were still some good bargains to be had.

I anyone has an update on the HG auction, it would be great to hear about it.

Thanks, PT

So true Blue,I could just imagine,Henry haveing birds for $2 at the auction.

For those I have confused in my, 2 to 300=$200 to $300.

The $20 bird was a 2005 ring bird.

Another quote from the bloke last night, was some

of the same birds, would of made twice as much

at the Hills auction,so that give you some idea

the prices, they make at the Hills sale'

See a member of my club who saw the birds before the auction was annoyed as he said that alot where missing flight feathers and alot where not up to the standard that you would expect from a HG bird. He felt as if HG was dumping the worse of the worse on us and hoping that his name was going toget him some big prices.

Then again i did not go so have no clue what the birds where in fact like

I did't go AV,but I diud look at the money they made & there wern'many

at $50.The bloke that went ffrom out club, in his report last night at the meeting,

said that Henry had changed his style of birds,he has a lot of Gary Gazzard

blood in the birds, that may be the reason, for the feather thing Buffy birds. :(

Thanks for that. From what a few said at our last committee meeting is the feeling is that his birds have Changed (they used another word but I will used that one) alot in the past few years and he is now trading on his name.

I have heard people say "I want a HG bird and I will pay anything to get it" so part of it might be the name the other part might be people perpared to pay for the birds don't know.

It's been mentioned in another thread the importance of bloodlines when selecting breeding stock. The reason people buy birds from a breeder like Henry is that even if you buy a lesser bird then a breeder of his status will generally only be using superior birds to breed from. Therefore the chances are that a lesser bird from him will breed above itself. However he has quality in numbers and also releases birds of obvious visual quality for auction.

Remembering that he just won two 1sts, two 3rds and other minor placings at the Nationals in Burnie, I think he might be trading on more than just his name :happy-dancing:

i think so too just need to look at his birds

personally i will be bringing in a hg bird down trakes when i have established my stock a bit no point doing it now as i need to get my own look started then improve latter

and if hg is now using gazzard birds well kills to birds with one stone so to speak
