okay so in my nest i had the most adorable big df spangle masking domanant pie violet cock bird

well thats what i thought he was untill .....

i brought him inside due to me wanting to make certain he was eatting well enough as it seemed even thogh first out he was not feeding him self and to my suprize when i lay in frount of my heater (as i do ) he decided to just flop beside me :)

i mean flop

at first i thought oh no hes droped dead what was wrong with him :(

but when i picked him up and turned him over to look he chirped at me the most sweetest little chirp ive ever heard

so i placed him down to see him walk and he walked up to me and proceded to lay down yet again this time looking up at me with a reasharance he was okay he then streched his wing out and simply layed their next to me by the fire (as all budgies do   )so i left him be thinking he will fly off soon and i will b climbing chairs to get him down ect ect

but no when he awoke some hour and half latter he got up chirped at me yorned and proceded to go to the food i had left and then sip his water with my help leaning the little dish to show him what it was he then walked up to me and looked up i gave him a scrach under his chin and he moved his head all directions thorowly injoying this then he once again lay down face first plonk in frount of heater

i had to laugh and get a short vid and some pics

its been thiree days now and the little fella has the exact routine all day long

he doesnt sleep in a cage he sleeps on a little pink pillow or sometimes i find him on mine

he is healthy as and can fly well as i found out when i was here on the sight yesterday and had left him peacefully sleeping , to my suprize half hour latter i hear a thud on the floor and look down to see showpanne had flown in and found me

at first i thought it was a coincidance but he has since done this 4 or more times

he is as we speak laying on his pillow by the heater

i will post pics tomorrow of my little angel so you can see for your self

im still in disbeleife and this is our third day in house together

its not just the fact of what he does its how he does it one leg out wing streched face down he almost looks to be flattened

funny thing is exept for fact i dont have wings he lays in the exact position i lay in myself infrount of the heater

i think that i have some kind of infinity connection with animals as i have got a conure a cocky and now showpanne all whom i can do anything to just pick up and place where ever and all whom i have come lay or sit or just snuggle both my larger parrots talk but with very good conversation skills you would think they were human i forget sometimes that it is a learnt conversation as some of the things they say and in context not only spin me out but others whom ingage in their conversations

my cocky bless him watches all the morning early news and then abc i usually turn it off after them but of late one day i arrived home from shopping to find him involved in the parliament

this happened a few weeks in a row to my surprise one day i hear in a very loud voice

Mr speaker

Mr speaker

i couldn't help but laugh he now watches parliament when im shopping now knows more about the world and politics than me

seems he only lays like that when its infrount of heater lol

This concerns me mate....................

I know these gas heaters need to be serviced every year and ours also needs doing right now. ( A symptom of the heater needing to be serviced I think is red flame where is lights and not blue as it should be .....and also people in the room easily falling asleep while the heater is on ) . As budgies or tiny birds respiratory systems are more sensitive I wonder if he may be actually taking in the emissions from the gas heater and what may seem to be cute in regard to behaviour may actually be a symptom of the gas heater emissions in the room ?

Some info to read ........

http://radiologicalcouncil.wa.gov.au/publi...s%20Heaters.pdf

http://www.birdchannel.com/media/bird-hous...places.aspx.pdf

To understand how a “vent-free” fireplace works, compare it with a gas stove. Both produce an open flame and “vent” into the room instead of to the outdoors. These fireplaces do not have exhaust vents and are connected to a gas line. They may operate on propane or natural gas, similar to your kitchen stove. Following the line of thinking that would preclude you from housing your bird in the kitchen, it would be prudent not to locate your bird in a room with a gas fireplace.

Some birds live in or near kitchens with no ill effects. I have a friend whose caiques are kept in the same room as a gas fireplace. Are these people lucky that their birds haven’t succumbed to fumes, or are they extra vigilant when using gas and other appliances around their pets? Let’s explore our options:

The first thing to check when contemplating the purchase of a vent-free gas fireplace is whether building and fire codes in your state and town permit home installation. Although many models are marketed to do-it-yourselfers, it is advisable, and may even be required by building codes, that you have a licensed plumber connect the gas line.

Is a gas fireplace less safe than your gas stove? The BTU output of a gas fireplace is greater than that of a household gas stove, and therefore will deplete more oxygen than would the stove. Heat-generating devices typically lower the humidity level in the home, but gas appliances may actually increase humidity to undesirable levels.

High levels of humidity contribute to the development of mold and mildew as well as to icing on windows during extremely cold weather. If fuel combustion is compromised due to faulty adjustment of gas and air mixture, or through contact of logs with flame, deadly carbon monoxide may result and be dispersed throughout your home.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) booklet, What You Should Know About Combustion Appliances and Indoor Air Pollution, oxygen depletion sensors are required on unvented gas fireplace heaters made after 1982. The sensor automatically shuts off the gas if the oxygen level in the room drops to 18 percent. Some models also include carbon monoxide detectors.

you never sleep with a budgie, you only have to roll over or be alarmed by something and the worse can happen.
