Hey guys,

I've had this white bird in my cage with my blue budgie for a while now, and I was wondering if I post a picture if anyone can tell me whether it is truly a budgerigar or not.. This bird was rescued from a tree, it was being attacked by wild birds. I feed it budgerigar food and it seems to enjoy it..

It's about the size of a cockatiel, it doesn't have the yellow thing on it's head though...it whistles slightly different to my blue budgie...

I dont think it is a budgie, but it looks quite similar. The wing markings are not budgie markings. Need a better picture.

I would remove it from your budgies cage and into another room. Seen as though it is a wild budgie it could have countless diseases that could spread to your budgie.

Yep, need a clearer photo for sure. Does however look like it has the shape of a red rump and there is a blue mutation of them.

My first thought was a blue redrump too. But I looked them up and the colour doesnt look right and all the beaks are dark grey....but there is so many new variations being bred these days.

Here also is a Light blue bourkes parrot http://www.bourkes-parakeet.nl/pg/2005%20l...lue-Bourke.html

I was at an avicultural meeting today with hundred of birds. While the colours of this bird can look like some red rump types, all the red rumps I saw had dark beaks....whereas the blue bourkes have pink beaks like this bird. All the bourkes I saw today were budgie sized....so age and breeding would come into the size aspect.

It needs to be separated from your budgie right away as any diseases that it will be carrying it can give to your budgie. Also different species should never be housed together in such a small cage due to behavioural and dominance issues, you may find one of them bullying the other.

Hey guys, thanks for all the posts, wow. These two birds have been living together for well over 1.5 years. They have only moved to this new cage at my house for about 6 months. Their previous home was at my boyfriend's house. What I've noticed is that when they use to live at my boyfriend's house in a bigger cage, the blue budgie use to always bully this white bird, but since moving to this new cage, it's been the reverse.

The colour of the bird looks more like the Light blue Bourke's Parrot, but everything else looks pretty exact to the cinnamon blue red rumped parrot.

I will try my best to get a better picture of the white bird without the bars.

It is certainly not a budgie. I believe it is a Rosella maybe.

Please, do you have a clearer photo ? The one you have here now is blurry and the bars of the cage gets in the way of your vision.
