I have a hen who I would like to shoe in a few weeks. Her cap has mostly moulted through, she has a couple of pin feathers left which I hope will be finished by then. My main question though is because she has only partially moulted her spots. She has three large spots through on each cheek but the rest are still those teeny boomerang baby spots, is it still okay to show her in young bird like that? I have been spraying her daily with water (she's had a few a day the last few days because of the heat) and that has really made her feathers sit nicely so it would be great if I could get her n the bench this time around. When I went to the last show they were talking about it but I didn't understand and felt intimidated being a newcomer and didn't ask. Link to comment

I beleive broken cap is when a baby does not have all his bars and an unbroken cap is when a baby has all his baby bars. Link to comment

Thanks Pearce. So then "unbroken" doesn't last very long? Shame though, I personally believe budgies are at their cutest when they are unbroken capped. Link to comment
