It is always better to have even numbers, and even numbers of hens and cocks at that. What is your cage like? Cage or aviary? If cage, do they get flight time outside of the cage? Welcome by the way. We all look forward to seeing pics. Link to comment

Put him in a separate cage and let him recover for a bit and if you don't want to keep him, rehome him. Birds that can't fly are nicknamed 'runners' and they can make the best pets ever. They are perfectly normal they just can't fly. Edited January 25, 2009 by Sailorwolf Link to comment

If you look closely you will see tail and flight feathers in wing most likely arent even all there. Your cage is big enougb for twice the amount you have already. Link to comment

You should NOT put down a bird because it can't fly. As SW said, they make great pets and from what I have heard, you can tame them quite easily. I suggest you go out and buy a smaller cage for him and keep him separate from your other birds. The flight feathers may grow back if he has lost them. Link to comment

I agree with everyone else...... you should find a new home for it rather than put it down. You shouldn't have a problem finding someone who will want it. They make the best pets. My bird 'Daisy' in my signature is normally feathered in every way and has never looked like a runner as described, but still she doesn't fly. She lives in the aviary with all the rest of my birds, she even has a mate, but doesn't fly. I just make sure there is a branch for her to climb up from the floor of the aviary whenever she looses her balance on a perch. She is the best bird I have ever owned. Very friendly and tame.
