There are 9 in there and a kindy cage.

I am not sure how much i paid, abut $77 for a stand with the 3 cages on it - it was a good deal, very good.

I put some plastic up, but it was stopping too much air circulation, so I bought another blind, like on my aviary. This one is one wired side, not the one near the fence. This means I can put it up and down without having to worry about air circulation or rain.

I first started thsi thread on January 2, 2009 and the breeding aviary was a good idea - at the time. That time is over, and it is time for a new shed.

This is what I have purchased

ABS-fslash-CB-SHDDAYLITE-2.jpg

It has a panel at the front to let extra light in, as well as a skylight on one side.

ABS-fslash-CB-SHDDAYLITE-3.jpg

ABS-fslash-SKY-2.jpg

It means I need to extend the slab by about 70 cm, but that should be easy. I will also attempt to fix the slight slop on the cement slab.

P1010002.jpg

P1010025.jpg

Ultimately it means that I will not waste space on the slab, like is currently happening.

So what will happen with the old aviary? Probably be dismantled and disposed of. Not in the best shape. I did rustkill it and paint the majority of the outside - ran out of pain in the back corner. I suppose i will simply take it to the tip, in parts.

Exciting :D The old aviary isnt beyond redemption. Offer it for sale here at a reasonable price and someone will want it. Or could it move down the yard and add onto the other aviary ?

Will you be adding more breeding cages ?

Yep line it out a bit Dave and you won't even see that rust

BUT the new shed looks great Dave.... it is simalar to the one I wanted, what size is yours, the one I wanted was 12ft by 10ft, $1337.00

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

And this one

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

But then I decided to settle on this as all 3 sheds I want the wall height at 210cm and that ment extre money, so this one worked out the best for.

http://gardenshedsonline.com.au/products/G...3_0m-116-7.html

But I only want one door. I rang and inquired. all up with extra height and delivery to my door would be $758.50.

But Greg has shucked a mickey and then he mellowed and is going to build my extension but won't be as big so I won't get my new indoor aviary but I am trying to talk him around at doing it the height I want and if he doesn't thast shed is the one I am getting. :D

I did not really think about adding it to the existing avairy, but that is definitely a possibility. Hmmm, now you have me thinking - :D

I suppose I could sell it. That is an option.

At the moment I have 9 brreding cages, 3 stands of 3. I will be adding more. I think the ones I have at the moment are big for breeding cages, i will get the measurements when i go home, but I think i will buy the next size down in the future.

I am also considering whether to leave the stands as they are, or build a more secure Melamine set-up. Maybe both, not doing the setup until January.

I only know the size in metres, so is 3.0m in length x 2.18depth x 2.06 metres tall. It fits in the space I have available, so that is what is important. I am okay with the two doors, not an issue. Point Greg in the right direction and set him loose I say!!!

Those cages are not as wide as mine. Mine have the 4 doors down the bottom as well as the two big doors, and can be divided into 2 seperate cages.I might buy some more like yours, but they seem pricey there. I am sure mine were a lot cheaper than that, but i did buy them 2 years ago.

Good site rachelm.

I will be bookmarking that for future use.

Now that I examine that site, I am sure that I bought my breeding cages from JJ Aviaries

Dave These are the cages I have and are getting more soon

http://www.lentradirect.com.au/contents/en-us/d5.html.

As for letting Greg loose and go for it he has chucked the Mickey again and I chucked one back and now I am going with the Garden shed again.

And it really annoyed because I went up see about getting car fixed and I mentioned something about tin to him and he said have a look at this, and wow 8 pieces of galvinesed 12ft long too just what I wanted in excellent condintion, and all he wanted was a slab of VB cans for it. How good is that.

BUT I came home and told Greg and he was pleased about it but he wants to frame the bird room with BIG FAT BULKY treated pine post and I said NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. how ugly is that and how would I ever line it out. I told I priced 2 inch square steel and i was going to get that but hen I insisted on it being at least 210 cm on the lowest point and that is when he chucked his Micky :( oh and aprt from my nooooooooooooooo, you could see him seeing red :( Aw well at least my garden shed will be 210 tall. but a big whole in my pocket. :sadsorry: And then I need heaps of $$$$$$$ to line it out and buy more cages.

Mine are the 4 for $125 ones. The bigger ones. I have found them to be fantastic as holding cages, but the next ones I get might be smaller.

Hey, Dave, having a sky light on the roof like that means that on hot days, the direct sun will really heat up the shed. Do you have a plan for some kind of shade cover to pull over that?

On the flip side, it should help keep them toasty on sunny days in the winter. :(

I emailed them and asked for a cheaper price. I was going to buy through Lentra but postage was a deal breaker.

Yes he has a plan for shade cover during summer. Dave and I discussed this before he ordered his new shed :(

Well, I packed up the old shed and sold it. It has moved on to a new home.

budgies001.jpg

To fit my new shed that will be my breeding room

ABS-fslash-CB-SHDDAYLITE-1.jpg

I needed to extend the slab slightly - the length of the slab was not a problem, it is just that the fence is on an angle, and at one end it was too narrow for the shed, so the slab was extended by a metre. The shed should fit easily now.

budgies017.jpg

The slab will have the chance to set this week, with the new shed going up Saturday.

Thanks mate, but I would argue I am far from it.

We will see how I go when I bring some birds along to the next meeting, which is not this friday but next I think.

That might be interesting, if they are not down to breed, or covered in beetroot stains - lol

That's funny, Dave! I learned back when I had babies to sell, not to give them beetroot, or nobody would want to buy them. ;)
