Well I have been working pretty hard at eliminating the mouse problem from around my place but it seems the hot weather in the last few days has brought a fewmore up. I just realised that I had forgotten to turn the light off in my breeding room and the birds were having a late night party so I rushed out to rectify the problem and while I was doing a couple of last checks in my flight a big mouse ran across the floor and squeezed out a corner :cake:

Needless to say my job tomorrow will be sealing any tiny gaps I can find. I'm not sure what to use though. I was thinking something like silicone (it's got to go between the tubular steel along the base of the aviary and the lino on the floor as the concrete is not quite level) but I guess that will mean having to take all the birds out which is a bit of a pain. Can anyone suggest anything that doesn't give off strong fumes so I don't have to rehouse all the birds for a couple of days?

I hope you can find a way to keep them out. It must be the hot weather bringing them back because i thought i had got rid of all mine but i saw mouse poo in my breeding room yesterday. i still have to work out how they are getting in.

if you are able to get your hands on some expanding foam called space invader try that ( you will need a corking gun too !). it flows into all the crevices and gaps and from memory it gives off minimal fumes if any and dries fairly quick too ;)

Anything can chew thropugh expanding foam...mice and budgies....over time it also crumbles and deteriorates too.

*** MB if you have any spare scraps of aviary mesh, bend it to suit and squash it in the gaps :)
