The swings are so easy to make. I used some old coathangers. You get two swings per coat hanger. Some cheap plastic beads and some offcuts of dowel. Base the size on the size of your budgies and the space they will need. BUT I got two swings per coat hanger even for show budgie sized birds. Here is the plan..... 1. First you cut the coat hanger so you have two good usable lengths. 2. Then you find the middle and bend it so you have a hanging loop up the top and in the middle. You can bend it around the handle of something to help form shape. 3. Then shape the swing. It can be an arched shape or bent with some angles. 4. Work out the size you will need for the perch section and drill a fine hole in each end. 5. At this point I thread on the coloured beads. Mine were bought in a pack from the $2 shop and make about 5-6 swings. 6. At each end of the hanger where the perch will go, bend inwards each side approc 10-15 mm. 7. Poke the ends into the perch section where you drilled the holes. Use glue or silicone in the hole if you have to. Mine were a perfect fit so it wedged in nicely. 8. its now ready to hang. You can use a split ring thats used for car keys or anything like that to help hang it up. In the top of my cage I have screwed in a loop for it to hang from. Here is some pictures. Of course you can add other things to this idea and come up with something more unique, but it works, its cheap to make ( about 50 cents per swing ) and it recycles old coat hangers. Edited November 12, 2008 by KAZ Link to comment

I got a coathanger and bent it as you did, then instead of using dowell, I used a piece of gum to form the sitty-onny bit. Smokey is in love with it at the moment (by in love, i mean, REALLY in love), but he does enjoy swinging on it too! Link to comment

That's terrific I had heaps of offcuts of dowel from when I turned the perches around from running across the cage to running front to back...had to cut them all shorter to run front to back and ended up with the offcuts I used here.
