Hi budgiegirl hope you enjoy the forums, as for your questions It is better to buy a budgie off a breeder as they are easly tamed at a younger age. And you can feed your budgie brocoli, sweetcorn(a favourate of Bailey's my budgie)carrot, apple, banana, bok choy, spinach, as for the names are you getting a male or female?

Hello and welcome :D

**PUTS HAND UP** I am a breeder in SA with hens on eggs :D will have babies ready to be homed in about 10 weeks or so which i know is probably too far away for what you are looking for. There are a number of us who breed here in SA - you came to the right place :)

Also budgies from breeders like us come fully hand tamed and health assured.

Budgies eat a quality budgie seed, veggies (not lettuce, cabbage or avocado) and fruits

PS. Dont forget to set your gender in "my controls" - at the moment it says you are male, where i am assuming by your name you are female :D

Also please have a read about NOT quarantining - it is s in the top 5 reasons why peoples birds get / are sick or die ..

So please if you are buying new birds quarantine from your existing ones :D

It is great to have you here I look forward to reading more of your post, Remember to ask plenty of questions

Hi and welcome to the forums.

Where you get the budgie from pet shop or breeder will not influence the time it takes to tame the budgies. Many breeders like to handle their babies, so that they are tame, but many breeders do not.

Baby budgies from petshops would have come from breeders in the first place, so again you have to rely on whether those breeders handled the babies or not. Breeders tend to know how old their babies are much better than petshop staff

Hi budgiegirl and welcome to BBC , you will find everything you need to know here, just ask and we willl do our best to help you out.

Like the others said it is usually best to get a baby from a breeder, they are able to tell you the exact age and what mutation it is, and you can usually be assured of a healthy bird aswell. Babies that have been handled from day one should be much easier to tame, but each budgie is an individual and it can take some time but if you are persistant and paitiant then you will get a great little friend :D

Like Liv I also have babies due soon and I am sure there are a few others around, if you have a perticular colour or type that you are after then I am sure one of us will have something that you will love.
