Most hens will throw most if not all out. You just keep replacing it. Once the eggs hatch, they usually don't worry about getting rid of it, but you'll have to replace it often as the chicks will poo LOTS!!!! Link to comment

Once the Chicks are hatched I put some in to help keep the nest box cleaner depending on the hen. Link to comment

You said you would remove the nestbox and yopu havent and now you are deciding to breed anyway and shop for nesting materials Link to comment
