It was Saturday and I noticed he was very quiet all day. By evening he had white sloppy poos and no black in them which indicated he had stopped eating. I though OH here we go again what have I done wrong. I only lost Pretty about a year and 1/2 ago. I warmed up the room and kept him quiet. I didn't know if he would pull through the night and my husband checked up on him and said he was okay but very quiet. He showed no signs of illness other then listness and white sloppy poos. In the morning, I pm'd a couple of members on the forum, Kaz and Libby to see what I could do. It was Sunday and there are no avian vet's open and the ER vets are only good for dogs and cats. I did some deduction and realized that I needed to get him to eat so I took him out and I gave him millet he started to eat it and then his poo's turned black and sloppy so then I changed the water often and enticed him to drink with splashing my fingers it worked but took awhile. When he feels good he is always up for a good splash with me. By afternoon we had wet poos but white/black and he did take a bath in the afternoon by himself but he was still very quiet. I kept feeding him millet and getting him to drink. I looked for the raspberry cordial but there was nothing and we decided to try I believe the apple juice that I say Neat suggested but by evening he seems 80% better. He sang a bit, he was perching on his swing now and his poo's were normal. By Monday morning he was 95% better and I decided along with talking with Kaz that he probably didn't need an avian vet. SO the deduction what happened? I gota different BIRD SEED, it looked the same, but it was a different brand and for some reason he didn't touch it at all. I noticed that on Sunday but I didn't think it could have been the food. Thank goodness I saw the symptoms and realized what was going on he would have starved to death. Today he has his regular bird seed but for some reason he has gone on strike because I spoiled him? He refused to eat anything but millet now so for now I am going with it, offering his seed in the same bowl putting some millet in it and I hope it catches on for now I just want to make sure he is okay. I wanted to share this important story with you. BIRDS will Starve themselves!! Link to comment

I put my little ones out into their aviary last week but yesterday noticed some runny bums and lo and behold white poos. I didn't know what that meant till I read your post. Happily I've caught them up and put them back inside and to my delight their tucking into their food now. I guess they just weren't quite ready for outside yet, I'll give it a few days and try it again soon. Link to comment
