Thanks to both of you. I think it is soo wrong that people can do that. They must have no respect for their bird(s)

They are looking for a home for them because they can't keep them, they just chose an inappropriate location to post it. Maybe they might appreciate a link to the forum so they can offer them here :D

If E Bay is an online Auction, what is the difference between that and an Auction run by a club (apart from the online electronic bit)?

E Bay might not allow it, but really what is so bad about it? pets and animal are bought at auctions all the time.. albeit an online auction in this case.

Don't get me wrong, I still think that we need to make sure that the birds go to good homes, Just wondering what all the fuss is about..

It is against their RULES and POLICIES to trade live animals ... Oztion.com.au can trade under classifies but not through auctions or Buy It Now as well .....

A lot of people get confused about this, I am a member of a fish board we can buy fish from overseas on an international e-bay and there is not an issue. It is Australian ebay that does not let you sell live animals but international ebay does allow it so sometime people think it's okay to do it and they just need the rules pointed out to them.

Fish have to be quarantined so it's not as simple as posting them from overseas :)

They put them into a heavy duty plastic bag and blow the bag up with pure oxygen and then they pack them in polystyrene boxes, with heat packs if necessary. When they reach an approved quarantine station here they are quarantined before being released to the purchaser if it's a private shipment or being moved into wholesale tanks and then finally being caught for transport to the pet shops. The process is repeated at the wholesaler and the boxes are transporter by Aus Air Express to their destinations all over Aus

Neat, thanks for the refresher on E Bay policy, my personal opnion aside with regards to this policy as it is irrelevant. After all that is their policy and at the end of the day if it not allowed, then it is not allowed. However in saying this, I would suggest though that just because E Bay does not allow their users to sell birds on ebay does not mean that it is wrong or a bad thing to do.

Unfortunatley most pets these days are brought and sold to make a quick buck by some people. I think that my efforts would go towards identifying breeders that breed to sell their stock as pets in order to make a quick buck. I wonder how many so called breeders there are out there are breeding their birds to death by continusly breeding them?

Breeders that do this should not be allowed to keep any animals as pets and should be dealt with by the RSPCA and face criminal charges.
