Its easy to get caught out when birds seem to be going too cheap and you bid impulsively without being able to check the bird again. Check birds vent ( not just a stressed bottom from the day, but stained vent ), check ages and legring colours, be sure the feather issues arent just due to moult but may be a feather issue to do with french moult survivor. Oh....and if Adelaide is anything like here in Perth....anything blue series goes for silly prices. Everyone wants blue birds. Edited July 17, 2008 by KAZ Link to comment

We too are only 'going to look', I say that...but we will still take the carry case with us. I realise the way to ensure we don't bid, would be to leave the carry case at home, but that would be practicle wouldn't it!! Will be very interesting though. I will study the cataloge tonight and highlight the ones that look good to me, then only bid for those if they ALSO look healthy and clean tomorrow I would like to get Lady a Grey normal male. There are a couple of lacewings, but i will have to see how far I can stretch my tiny budget - There is always the bird shops on the way home if i leave empty handed :hap: Link to comment

We will be bidding. I'm an old hand now, I've been to two auctions!! LOL :hap: I go through and decide which two birds I REALLY want and my fiance and I discuss how high we are willing to go and anything that looks nice that doesnt go for too much, we consider also The last auction, anything that was passed in still stayed for sale at opening bid price which was $20. Best to have seperate carriers if you can. Thanks for the tip, i forgot that I only have the one carry case and it's only small - it would fit 2 birds tops. I will either select 2 birds from the same breeder, or one only bird. There are only a few breeders selling there tomorrow so it shouldn't be to hard to find 2 from the same breeder Edited July 18, 2008 by **Liv** Link to comment
