just thought i would let your all know that i have decided not to paint my bird box pink :P

I have spent the last 2 days making it and hubby says that i am crazy to paint it.

So if you see someone else with a pink box, it wont be me hehe. Mine is now just plain boring natural pine :)

I promise I won't be that drunk on Saturday morning :P We don't have many photos, we only take them on special occasions (only because we are lazy), the last here at a wedding.

Seeing as the bidding starting $20.there will be a few passed in,they will sell for $5 to$40 & seeing as there is a few

going,You all better work out which birds you are buying,so you don't bid against each other,Auctioneers love novice

bidders, & you could be over your limit in a blink of eye. :P

Check the birds carefully BEFORE the auction and write notes on your catalogue. Its easy to get caught out when birds seem to be going too cheap and you bid impulsively without being able to check the bird again. Check birds vent ( not just a stressed bottom from the day, but stained vent ), check ages and legring colours, be sure the feather issues arent just due to moult but may be a feather issue to do with french moult survivor. :P

Oh....and if Adelaide is anything like here in Perth....anything blue series goes for silly prices. Everyone wants blue birds.

Thankyou for the advice everyone, very much appreciated!

We too are only 'going to look', I say that...but we will still take the carry case with us. I realise the way to ensure we don't bid, would be to leave the carry case at home, but that would be practicle wouldn't it!!

Will be very interesting though. Looking forward to meeting some forum members too :D

The only way to ensure you do not bid is to not pay for a bidders number :D

I am going to have a crack at bidding. I will study the cataloge tonight and highlight the ones that look good to me, then only bid for those if they ALSO look healthy and clean tomorrow :D

I would like to get Lady a Grey normal male. There are a couple of lacewings, but i will have to see how far I can stretch my tiny budget - There is always the bird shops on the way home if i leave empty handed :hap:

I have found at the last couple of auctions yellow faces have fetched the most money. We will be bidding. I'm an old hand now, I've been to two auctions!! LOL :hap:

I go through and decide which two birds I REALLY want and my fiance and I discuss how high we are willing to go and anything that looks nice that doesnt go for too much, we consider also :D

The last auction, anything that was passed in still stayed for sale at opening bid price which was $20.

Remember if you have bought birds from two or three different breeders and they travel home in the same cage....quarantine is super important. Best to have seperate carriers if you can.

Thanks for the tip, i forgot that :D

I only have the one carry case and it's only small - it would fit 2 birds tops. I will either select 2 birds from the same breeder, or one only bird. There are only a few breeders selling there tomorrow so it shouldn't be to hard to find 2 from the same breeder :(

It will be fine, but you will have to be very sure about quarantine when you buy two birds from different breeders that all.
