Can someone please tell me what plants/trees/shrubs i can put in my budgie aviary.

I have put bark and grasses at the bottom of the aviary and the quail just love it.

Can you please tell me what plants are toxic and which plants are non-toxic.

Thanks :D

Be aware that any plants you put in there will get eaten. I have tried putting tough native grasses in there and they chewed them to the ground in about two days.

Your best bet is actually to find some trees in your area that are budgie safe and 'trim' them every now and then. If you use a piece of plastic pipe with one end blocked and wire on the top (so the budgies can't get into it. Then attach it to the side of the aviary with some wire and fill it with water, then you can add plants for them and replace them when they get chewed.

I'm not sure what you have over there but most of the common Aussie plants like Acacias(wattles), eucalypts, tea trees, bottlebrush, etc are fine. Also Jacaranda is fine and is common all over.

I once had a fully planted out aviary. The budgies destroyed every plant in under 2 weeks. If you like the plant look go the gum tree branches and also peppermint tree, hibiscua and grevillea. Plants planted or in pots wont last five minutes :D

I put a massive 2 meter gum branch in my aviary and my birds reduced it to twigs in 4 days!!

Perhaps leave the plants on the outside of the aviary and like Kaz said, give them branches to chew instead :D

If you like the idea of having a tree do what I'm going to do. Find a nice thick dead branch with smaller sturdy branches coming out of it and turn it into tree by putting the base in a large bucket and filling the bucket with cement. Drill some holes in the 'tree' and poke live branches into them, that way when they have eaten all the branches off it you can just put new ones in the drilled holes :D
