My budgie has started to land on the edge of my plate while i'm eating and he pinches the crumbs of the bread. The bread is malted wholemeal. Will this do him any harm?More often than not its in the form of toast.

The bits he get has no butter on anything else on it. Thank You

Personally I wouldn't have my budgies sitting on the edge of my plate! I have seen my budgies poop on the perch and then walk through it and your probably getting a nice sprinkle of feather dust on your toast too. Ewwwww...

the answer to your question is bread is high in salt and it is advised not to give them bread because of this, even the wildlife officials don't want you feeding wild birds bread because if this very reason

My Avian vet advised me to offer brown (wholemeal) bread to my breeders ( as another part of soft food)

in small doesage it is fine ..... if you are worried about preserativies and salts ... Bakers delight have no additives added ( great for kids with allergies ( like my son )...
