My younger cousins want to no weather they can introduce a another bird to Tweety. She is a fully grown hen about 5 years and been living by herself for about 4 and half years. They want to know if it is wise to introduce another budgie to her perferably a male.

No real reason why not

IF

1. the cage is large enough...if not sure...post piks on here and ask.

2. quarantine of 30 days minimum in another room in another cage. No contact with the previous budgie until quarantine is over.

3. Introduce slowly after the 30 days quarantine in a side by side cage arrangement.

If you introduce slowly and they each have a cage to go back into, and only get together during supervised out of cage time, for awhile it should be fine.

ANY BUDGIE will fight if she has had her own cage just the way she likes it for years and another budgie gets put into the same cage with her.

Thats why, you need to do it right...with quarantine, with two seperate cages, with time and with patience. You need a much bigger cage. If the cage you already have is huge, then you need to rearrange everything in it before the new budgie goes in it ( after quarantine ) and that way the first budgie may not be as possessive over the cage.
