my neighbours has decided to paint his boat in his carport and is using thinnings today, his carport is 3 metres from my screen enclosed back area where my quarintine budgies are. i can smell the paint when i walk out my back door so are my birds safe to stay where they are.i do not have anywhere else to put them but if i need to move them i will just have to find somewhere.

YES...they have to be moved. Put them in a cage and take them somewhere else.

the cubby house is right next to the avairy, but i have 2 cages to move. i can put one in my laundry but i am trying to work out where to put the other. i do not have a garage and there is no room in my garden shed. i am thinking of putting the other one in my 12 years old room[he would love it] but his room is next to the loungerrom where Tweety and Runt live but if i keep his door shut will it be okay or should the quarintine birds not be in the house at all.

i have moved them, one cage is in the laundry and the other in my bedroom but are they okay to be in the house with Tweety and Runt if i keep the doors shut of the rooms they are in. I want to keep my quarintine birds safe but i also do not want to risk Tweety and Runt. i am not worried about Dave's budgies but the 2 new ones i got on saturday have brown marks above their ceres so i am keeping a close eye on them.

Move them into fresh air, put a large cloth over them and stick them anywhere you can! - a cloth will keep any airborne dust at bay temporarily. Make sure you let the fumes leave the cage air before you put a cloth over them.

Edit....

they should be fine in the same house.... Just Cover them up tightly to stop any dust :)

How inconsiderant of your neighbour!!! :) (shakes head lol.). What a pain for you. I'm glad you got them safely inside. Perhaps have the newest one (the ones you're concerned about) furtherest away from Tweety and Runt. And just remember all the usual rules... hand washing etc... AND I hope he finishes his boat soon! :D Maesie xoxo

the birds seem all okay, they are a bit unsettled but i think it is because they are moved to a different area.my neighbour did not tell me that he was painting his boat, i could smell paint so i went and asked him if he was painting. he said he will be painting for the rest of the week so my birds will be in the house till he finishes. we do not get on with our neighbour, i told him i had birds in my back area and he said it does not smell that bad and would not hurt them but if i am worried than just move them.my cat wonder into his yard one day so he poured metho on it.

I know it's an old post but i think this needs to be said.If any one else has a similar issue with a neighbour ask them are they spraying with acrylic or 2-pack.If they say 2-pack get your kids and go out for the day ,Isocyanate (2-pack) paints are deadly. They don't use that particular paint in a spray booth with a breathing aparatus and water floor for nothing.
