Yes...thats whats happening. The dogs have been trying to tunnel in where the rat got in, but if they were allowed to do that they would create a bigger problems that side of the aviary sits on a retaining wall but only of logs and soil, If they were allowed to dig there the wall would come down and part of the floor of the aviary would be gone and so would the birds. I will encourage Ken to start putting the spare aviary wire down on the floor in sections and maybe that will help. The retaining wall needs a rethink as well...the wood is not the best idea. NO chance of a rat moving away, once they move in all they do is breed more rats…good luck Kaz. Even if it's not your fault that attracted the rat if neighbours blame you & then bring in the council you have problems. I moved out of my parents place earlier than I was going to as I had lots of birds & pigeons & some neighbour got the council in & they said I had too many birds for a suburban backyard & gave me notice to quit by a certain day…get rid of my birds…but I moved out with them to my farm I had bought in the country. Not where I am now. Edited April 21, 2008 by Norm Link to comment

We have to be careful where we put traps and bait because of the dogs and the cat we have that hunt rodents. But we have traps set on top of the aviary, and around the back Link to comment

It is as other have said like a strong tasting beef and is available is supermarkets as a gourmet cut of meat. I dont buy it or eat it, but if someone was to cook me a roo tail stew I would enjoy that. Kangaroos over here are in plague proportions in many places and are "culled" accordingly. Link to comment
