The other day I was having a look in the pet shop near my place (I always just have a look, never buy) And saw that they had some corn on the cob in their budgie cages, so I brought one to try with my and Marine was the first to try this new yellow round thing in the cage but soon they were all digging into it. :D

The next day I couldn't put it in fast enough for them. :(Laughing out loud):

Just wondering if any one else had ever offered corn to their budgies. Not only do they get some yummy treat but once all the corn is gone they have a play toy in the shape of the cob (I did cut it into small pieces about three rows wide)

Ringo it seems loved to play with it becuase the corns resting spot was the water, which she loved to throw stuff into :bluebudgie:

my two just adore those mini sweetcorns! Teapot loves eating it, and snowy gets her pleasure from throwing it all over the room! (Laughing out loud)!

Custard love corn on the cob, i peg it to the cage wall and she has great fun ripping it apart, eating a little and throwing the rest around for me to clear up. She does some great acrobatics too! Will have to get the camera out and post some on here - its quite amusing!

I didnt realize it left yellow stains though - handy having a yellow bird as she likes it SO much

Um, so do you think that frozen stuff heated up is no good? Cos we hardly ever get fresh corn, they don't sell it much at the supermarket. Oh, you can get it from pet shops?

YAY glad I seemed to help some folks out with an idea :)

Yes Julie it's raw, Mine love it on the ground as rings, they fight over it and rip it up and kick it about :D

Antt Yes I think the frozen suff would be fine Iw ould just let it thraw out and give it to them raw, if cause it would not be as good as the fresh stuff just like it would be for us, but it can't hurt them.

Stains, well three yellow faces one white and I didn't notice Pie had stains on him, well he does't eat it as much as his kids do.

:( :(Laughing out loud): :D

Dont cook the corn. Let the frozen corn thaw out and the birds will thinks its christmas. My males love it as it is easy for them to feed the bubs.

I've always given corn on the cob as I think wrestling it is half the fun for them :( I prefer to give organic produce and as yet I haven't come across organic frozen corn kernels :D

My budgies love corn on the cob. Especially when feeding their young, and its the first thing they devour . They have the choice of endives, sprouted seed and corn. I only give it to them once or twice a week as I have read it can make them fat..... ;)

Canned generally has a decent amount of salt, so read the side of the can first and check additives.
