Well i didn't want to say much till i was 100% sure. Today lilly laid her first egg. I am shocked. I know i shouldn't be. All the signs add up like them mating, feeding each other, huge poo's and swollen vent. This is my first time breeding but i feel confident that i can do this. Heres a site which i update every other day. I'll most likely update that more then this thread. Heres the link. I'm still working on the site so excuse how horrible it is

http://www.freewebs.com/birdieness/Breeding1.htm

I want to know what color i will get but yet i want to keep it a surprise. Here are the proud parents

picture of parents

Can some one just answer me this. Will i get any YFT2 sky/cobalt recessive pieds?

Well heres a picture of the egg. It looks a bit loney don't ya think.

The Egg

i took this while lilly and peek were both out of the cage flying and taking a quick chow down on veggies.

Lilly sat on the egg all through the night. She's being such a good birdy mom. Peeks being a pretty good dad. Eating his veggies and feeding lilly. The egg is soooo small. It's like the size of a cadbury mini egg. They are still mating and peek sits on the door perch and starts singing/chattering about. I wish i could have got a nestbox cam. It would be really cool to be able to watch lilly in there with her eggs.

You will have all normal green babies unless your "olive" male is carrying the recessive pied gene and the blue gene too. There are always surprises with sex-linked genes that the male can carry and will give to his hen babies so that is always interesting.

I'm sorry but WHAT! I know the picture is a little fuzzy but i didn't think it was bad enough to say i have a Olive male (Laughing out loud).

Heres lilly My YellowFace Type Two Cinnamon Sky Hen(or so i've been told)

And peek a boo My Cobalt Recessive Cock.

Deb (i think it was) posted another thread on color in which we have the same pair besides my hen is a cinnamon and we've been told we would get normals in both sky and cobalt and some would Be YF's and if the hen was split to recessive there would be recessive babies. All babies would also be split to recessive. None of my babies would be cinnamon unless dad is split to it and whats the chances of that.

Heres a quote from Deb's Thread

Normally if you pair a YF2 Blue Normal with a Recessive Pied you would get all Normal chicks some YF2 Blues & Normal White Faced Blues & all chicks would be split for the Recessive Pied like you say. But you could be lucky as I think these days’ lots of birds are already carrying the Recessive Pied gene so you may be lucky enough to get some Recessives.

Well i hope peek is carrying some hidden Gene and we some surprises. If not i'm happy with the normal crew i will get

Thanks. Theres still a ton more i need to add but i don't have enough time to sit down, Take pictures of all the toys and then upload them. I was thinking about adding a like to this site but havn't got around to that either.

Hopfully egg#1 wont be a loney little egg as of tomorrow. I tried marking the egg but it seems so faint on the egg now. Hoping i will be able to tell #1 and #2 apart for when i go to mark the second one. Lilly is such a good mom. She does come out everynow and then to eat and drink and let peekie do his job and then she is back in sitting on her little eggie.

Well egg #1 is no longer a lonely egg. #2 appeared some time from 8am to 2 pm. Lilly is being such a good mom. She is sitting tight but she will come out for me to check the eggs as soon as i open the side door to the cage.

Well i'm finally home again. Busy day. Cookie the rabbit got dropped off at the vets to get Fixed and we are just getting home from picking him up. I still need to mark a #2 on it if i can tell the difference if not i'm just going to leave it. There are pics on the site of the eggies. If you enlarge them and look close you may just see a little something peeking in, in the background (Laughing out loud)

There's no desperate need to write No#2 on it... Just write down the hatch dates and when they all start hatching you'll Know which one it was :D if it doesnt hatch then you'll know it was egg #2 that was due to hatch and didnt :hap:

Thats the exact reason i started my online journal. I think i may print it out once everything is all done.

I did how ever get to mark it while mom was out taking a quick two min fly around and then it was straight back in with her little eggies. I didn't think the #1 i had put on the first egg stayed there until today. as i was marking #2 i moved egg one just enough to see my little #1 there. With any luck Egg #3 On cookie(bunnys) birthday (march 6th). Hoping the first egg hatches around the 20/21th and i am hoping a ton lilly will feed the poor thing. She's being a absolutely amazing mom so far so i think everthing will work out.

Sad new guys. I just candled the first and second egg and they both appear to be clear. I'm not giving up hope as it's still possible. I've never did something like this before and maybe i'm just missing something but i don't think the outcome will be very good. I will give it a try again in a week on egg one two and three to see if i can see anything(or eve looks different then it did today) then and if not i well i guess it wasn't ment to be and i'm alright with that. Who knows tho, Maybe i'm just blind. If this is the case and they all turn out clear i'll let her keep them till she gives up on them and then stick them back in with the flock. Hoping i can get one baby from this pair.

Egg #4 is due today. I'm just waiting for lilly to come out of the nestbox to take a quick peek in. I'm not sure any of the egg are fertile. Egg two looks like a huge no. Egg one i'm unsure of. I couldn't clearly see in it but i also didn't see any viens. Egg 3 is way to early to tell. I guess it's going to be a huge surprise if any hatch.

Good luck Enna I hope your eggs turn out fertile, they are pretty good in that way only a small number produce infertile eggs.
