This has put her in a position where she can see (from a long distance) and hear clearly the aviary budgies. On a good day Olive is a crazy little budgie, but now that she is avidly attempting to get to the other birds, she has flown (no pun intended) completely of her rocker and I really am afraid that she is going to seriously injury herself. Yesterday I was out there talking to her, attempting to calm her down to no avail and she flew straight into her perch and fell to the floor of her cage, where she sat dazed for a minute or so (thankfully there was no more damage done). I've also tried covering her up with a towel, but it hasn't made a bit of difference. She only has a week left in quarantine and I don't really have any where else to put her as I seem to have quarantine budgies all over the place. So do I leave her in her cage, where she could potentially hurt herself or introduce her to the aviary a week early? Any thoughts or advice is much appreciated . Which is highly frowned upon... But since she's been quarantined for a while already I personally would drop the last week of and add her to the aviary before she kills herself... i trust that your thought of adding her to the aviary means you feel she's fighting fit and healthy... so why not.... or else you may have a snapped neck on your hands soon :S Link to comment

On the other hand, I'd hate for me to put her in and something goes horribley wrong . Link to comment

Your call re her health. Has she been wormed, and had a mite treatment ? Did she get a once over at the vets ? She is so close to the end of her quarantine period that if it has gone without incident I guess she would be okay. Stress brings out illness if it was there and she seems under stress now wanting to be where the others are. Like I said...your choice. Edited February 28, 2008 by KAZ spelling Link to comment

So I'm going to put her in the aviary tomorrow morning . Worming - check Mite treatment - check Vet visit -check And no signs of any illness so far. I don't like the idea of breaking quarantine but I think this is best for her health and safety. Like you said Kaz, stress causes illness and she is definitely stressing herself out right now. I'll keep a very close watch on all the aviary birds and if anything out of the ordinary pops up, it will be straight off to the vets. Link to comment

She has already claimed the rope toy as her own, has found a fast friend in Zayda and I think her and Kaos are having a running competition to see who can wreak the most havoc. It makes me very happy to see her flying about mingling with the other budgies, she hated her quarantine cage with a passion. That being said, I am still keeping a close watch on them all, but no signs of illness have reared their ugly heads yet. Touch wood. :hap: Edited March 2, 2008 by Bec Sta Link to comment

She did spend a week at the vet's and she had the okay from us. I'd keep watching for a good two weeks, even if the quarantine period had been up.
