He had a wad of dung hanging from him big as a cluster of sour grapes. Would anyone know what I should do for this little tyke? Your reply(s) shall be most appreciated. Thanks! A build up of budgie poop caked onto their bottom can actually stop them pooping and make them very sick. If you find such a build up in future, you must wash it away. As the previous poster has said, it may now need to be looked at by a bird vet Link to comment
Guest Phoebe
:ygbudgie: Definitely an avian vet visit required, there may be a tumor and/or buildup of fluid that is causing a partial obstruction. Good luck to you and your budgie! Link to comment

Good luck to you and your budgie! Thanks guys for the responses. This little tyke has been like this for a couple weeks now, so obviously he needs to see vet. I hadn't noticed till tonight though the huge buildup of dung on his undercarriage. Being the weekend and no vet in sight, is there anything that you folks would recommend medicinally speaking? Check his bodyweight...feel to see if his keelbone ( chest ) is showing more than it should. Feel his body weight...if he feels light to you. Give him something to eat he would really get stuck into...soft food or a honey seed treat. If he is fast losing green runny droppings, once washed, a temporary solution is to put some SULPHA 3 or SUYLPHA remedy in his water ....only until you get him to a vet. Link to comment

Guest Phoebe
I know that it is a statutory holiday in Canada but most vets are open today for at least half a day and closed Monday. Do give it a try. Link to comment
