What steps would you require to start showing birds?

How much does it cost to show birds, what process do you need to go through to get your bird through the entire event?

What sort of birds are they looking for, and how can you get your birds up to their standards?

1. visit as many shows as you can to see whats winning

2. buy the best birds you can normally 2 pairs from 2 different breeders

3.as for preparing your birds they have to be brought into condition despoted ect its best to have a look at budgerigar world then to have a look at some of the show breeders web pages as this topic can go on and on

I tried to join the Nepean Budgie Club, was told fees are $50 per year, and if I want to ring my birds, I'll also have to join the Budgie Council of Victoria. I think all this is a waste of time, especially because I'm only just starting.

I emailed the secretary of the Avicultural Society, and was told they don't do budgies, and to come back when/if I decide to breed a native species of bird.

What a COMPLETE waste of my time and effort!

Does anyone have any ideas to help me find a budgie club? A preferably cheap club, I'm hardly going to mass breed budgies to get value from the cheap bird rings!

There are many Budgerigar Clubs around Australia. The best place to start to look is The Australian National Budgerigar Council from there you can get information and links to other organisations.

If you are in South East Queensland S.Q.B.B.A. is a good spot as well.

Most Clubs charge between $20 to $50 a year with discounts for families. Ring will be extra but will cost around the $12 per 25. (prices differ from club to club)

For the money that you pay you will get support and advice from top breeders. I believe that the costs are to low for the information provided. I support my Club in many ways.

I show my budgie, however I saw the breeder before they put the ring on her leg, and instead of ringing pip's leg they gave me the ring, now I show Pip, and if they want her to be wearing a ring I simply say that i find it cruel and show them the ring that i have

I edited this post because I spelt it wrong.

Also, do you know of anyone who supplies budgie rings hath? As i'm going to get some more.

can you actually do this ..... seems really mmmmmmmmmmm

sus as you could take any bird with the same ring
