I would like to adjust my aviary so that one end is enclosed. Can anyone give me ideas of materials to use and the best ways to do it. Photos would be appreciated.

:D

Thanks Melanie.

Hello, what exactly do you mean. Do you have an aviary and you want to fix it? Or you want to build a new one? Outside or inside?

You might be able to put up another wall of mesh and a door to separate the area.

Budgiegirl013 do YOU have an aviary you want to modify ? If so, have YOU any photos to show us so we can help ? Also, why does your profile show you as having ZERO budgies ? :)

Yes I do and will take a picture and will send it to you! Well we have just an open cage, so i think that they died of frost. So I need some help to make the cage better!Melanie.

okay, you're up near Taree, Port Macquarie? Shouldn't normally get too cold there although I believe it's been unseasonally cold up north lately ...

If your aviary is completely uncovered and exposed your birds could well die from exposure, not just cold alone.

How big is the aviary?

Is it near a wall or fence?

Is your yard heavily planted or bare?

All these things will have some bearing.

If you can put up some photos we could have a look and be better able to advise you.

Regards,

KathyW.

If you post a photo of what you have already it will help with advice for modifications. Cheers Karen

What are your nightime temps and do you get high winds there?

My night time temps in the winter are normally 37* low (3c) we had record lows last winter of 28* (-2c) and they managed fine. We dont have a seperate room for nightime roosting, and the whole aviary is exposed. BUT its under the patio, and we have blinds that get rolled down each night. In the winter we add the "winter box" thats got a heat lamp added. I'll post some pics so you get the idea. Maybe this could be an option for you? We have used this set up for about 5 or so years.
