Candeling Eggs

Recommended Posts

Guest ~libby~

hey i thought these were very clear pictures of the difference between a fertilized egg and a non... as this was a recently layed egg it could either be fertilised or clear as it's too early to tell but i took the picture of it to show the clear difference for people interesting in candeling their eggs without knowing what to look for... the second egg is quite far on in the devolpment of the chick so don't expect all eggs to look like this but it was a rather hard job taking a picture of the veins developing inside but atleast you have some idea what to look for:)

helpful picture but also keep in mind if you can candle without touching the eggs it is better, so only do this once if need be around the 5 day mark to see the small veins.

Good pictures. But it's strange for me, I've had two tiel's eggs like the second one - with half of the egg dark, they were like this when they were newly layed and nothing hatched. I thought they were rotten

Great pics.. the first egg is definitely fertile. As for the second, to me, the air pocket looks way too big for it to be a viable egg. If you can get to one of the local club meetings, Libby, it would be worth investing in a flexi torch so that you can candle the eggs without touching them.
