Lynette's previous budgie was a talker and he lived to 12 years of age. ROCKY is a YF type 2 skyviolet spangle it looks like. His colour is so vibrant and doesnt really show well on the video and photos. He was adopted as a 7 week old and began to talk within the fortnight starting with I love you...........he is now 7 months old, and is talking like a professional. I was amazed !! While I was there he came out with at least 50 to 70 phrases in the space of an hour or so while he was "chatty". He has much much more to say and its all a credit to his new owner who adores him and whom he adores also. Here is just some of what he can say Rocky Sticky beak Did you ? I love you Come on, Come on Minky, Minky ( Minky is the cat ) Naughty boy Minky's coming Mum's at the shops Mum's at the Casino Dear boy I miss Minky Give me a kiss Mummy The kids are coming Pretty Boy You've been a good boy Someone's at the shop Okay, you're a good boy Minky...you've been a good boy Good little chicken Mummy's good boy Mummy's pretty boy You've been a good boy Mummy's darling Did you miss me darling ? You're a good little girl Pretty one Come here Kiss Mum Talk to the birdies I tried hard to video him talking and indeed it came out very clear played back from my camera, but translated onto the computer is less clear. Needless to say he was very impressive and whatever he had to say could be heard clearly across the room. He had us in stitches laughing http://media.putfile.com/Rocky-Talks- Edited July 14, 2007 by **KAZ** Link to comment

Guest Phoebe
:hap: He's so sweet! Love it when budgies do that! Unfortunately, none of mine ever have but with all my critters, it's really hard to give everybody LOTS of one and one. Couldn't hear it very well over the sound of the fans and birds responding to it, will try later. :ausb: Link to comment

Type one or type two denotes whether the yellow 'bleeds' into the blue (type 2) or not (type 1), not whether they are double or single factor. Link to comment

I don't think that is correct. Breeding 2 yf2 birds will create some babies with yellow faces and some with white. The whitefaced birds could be normals or DF yf birds. The only way to tell is to breed them with whitefaces to see what the offspring have. Link to comment

Type two can only be masked by a green bird, not hidden or masked by a blue. where's as a df type 1 can give the white faced birds, whilst also yellows. there's info on it somewhere on this forum. As Daz has said in his mutation self test, the mutations which alter visually when in df form are spangle, dom pied and yf1. Link to comment

It may appear to have green on it, but is still a blue-based bird. There is a link in one of these threads to the Master Budgerigar Breeder website, it is explained there pretty well. A DF yf2 will appear to be a whitefaced bird. Edited April 21, 2008 by Rainbow Link to comment
