I am finding eggs everywhere !! Digging in the earth floor - yup, mine did that to me too. They were all old birds I was going to let live out the rest of their alloted time in a nice aviary. They were NOT ready to retire! Feeders - yup - I've had a couple of hens some years ago repeatedly dig ALL the seed out of the feeders and somehow squeeze under the divider and lay eggs INSIDE the feeder! Sometimes you just gotta let them have their own way ... they seem to think they know better than us what they need / want Cheers, KathyW. Link to comment

Determined aren't they ? :glare: I cant leave them there as they are attracting other birds who also think its a good idea. If I put the parents in a breeding cabinet and wait till she lays the next egg in the actual nesting box I can then add the first two eggs to the nest. It has worked before. The plantpot has been removed. Meanwhile, others keep digging holes next to the aviary front section...and I keep filling in the holes. Soon to change all and there will be no soil floors. I thought the cock was recessive... YES...they are the parents. I was listing the parents of the hen. I believe the cockbird is from recessive parents both sides. Kaz was listing the hen's parents. Poor Kaz, but it seems lucky you had a spare cage still! I am amidst building new cages, but had to put this pair in an old breeder cage that had to have a quick fix up to accommodate them. If budgies could GRIN from ear to ear....I would describe this pair as doing exactly that sitting on their perch in the breeder cage now :glare: Link to comment
