My Budgies

I really need to get a hold of a camera or something, because there are so many pictures that I want to take and show you guys. For instance Albert's new way of using the exercise wheel. He hangs on to the side and does loop de loops all by his own budgie power.

Here are there mutations :

Albert: Yellowface type 2 cobalt spangle male

Nikio: Violet opaline female (split to full-body-colour greywing)

Bacardi: Cinnamon violet opaline spangle yf2 female brat

Robbie: full body colour greywing, spangle yf2 cobalt male

Kito: Cobalt opaline yf2 spangle female

Saffron: DF spangle yf2 mauve female (split to full body colour greywing)

Emmett: Bright green spangle male (may be split to cinnamon as his wing markings are brown)

Alopex: Cobalt full-body-colour greywing spangle male (most likely split to opaline)

Izzy: Sky blue normal male (split to cinnamon and opaline and full body colour greywing)

Itha: Cinnamon cobalt yf2 spangle female

Arkady: yf2 "normal" (if it is possible for arkady to be normal, crazy thing) male (split to opaline and full body colour grey wing)

Isis: yf2 mauve full-body-colour greywing spangle.

 

Next year I plan to breed Nikio and Alopex together and Arkady to Kito and Emmett to Itha.

Should get some lovely colours coming through.

Look how tiny Emmett is compared to the other budgies. He is so light to. But he is is very good condition and because of his lightness, he can fly very well with just 2 feathers in each wing.

He is even smaller than the youngest babies, who I thought were small.

I guess he must have really small stock or bush budgie closer in his background.

I have a problem, I'm getting attached to Robbie. I was originally going to sell him, like I am with Albert, but over time, he has proved, what a special little gentleman he is.

If I am going to sell him, he would have to go to someone special, and I would have to be able to see him regularly.

Originally as a chick he was quite a timid little fellow, even though I handled him every day, he was quite scared and would always hide under the towel. When he became flighted, he was scared of my hand and didn't want to come out, even though younger sister Nikio was pretty game on coming out for a play. However as time has moved on he has become very tame and very friendly and loves nibbling my hand, and he does it ever so gently. He has the cutest face ever and he is the only boy budgie I have who flirts with my finger, all I have to do is bop his beak with my fingernail and his little head goes off bobbing around the place. And then when he plays with my hand and wrestles it, he flies off with his tail up and goes all happy dance and then flirts with all the girls in the cage, even his mum. .

He is so sweet and I share a relationship with him that I don't with the other boys. he loves climbing up my arm and eating my jumper.

He has his father's face (extra cute(his father is Arkady)), his father's charms, well attitude to charming girls, his mother's good looks (mother is Isis) and he is a cutie.

You see I think I have too many budgies. I was gonna sell Albert and Robbie to reduce my number to 10 budgies, but as the days go on, little Robbie, just makes me gooier and gooier. I couldn't imagine him as a lonely budgie in a smaller cage than he is in now, but I don't want to be selfish, because he is very special and deserves a close friend.

Albert, I think could handle being in a smaller cage, the fatty! Fat Albert. (Laughing out loud)

My cage is 165 cm tall, by 89cm wide by 89cm deep. That is okay for 11 budgies isn't it? They seem to do quite okay with 12 being in there.

What do you guys think?

As you can see, he has wormed his way into my heart. He probably knew I was going to sell him, so put on the charms and once I have decided, he will probably be a little brat. hehe

Anyway here are some new photos. Again with the webcam, but it shows the colours much better and also you can see Nikio this time.

I don't know how Izzy got out of these ones, but he did.

 

 

 

 

Look at Arkady in those last two pictures, they were taken seconds apart, nobody else has moved but him, and in each picture he is a blur. That tells you the nature of Arkady, he's always hyped up, like he's on caffeine or something. hehe

 

 

If your wondering why there are not many toys in those pictures, it's because they thrown them on the ground, there are about 7 toys on the bottom of their cage right now, brats. Two of them they have decided to start eating.

 

Hahahaha, Arkady and Isis were just mating, and then Alo comes along to see what all the fuss is about. Isis got all grumpy at him and started chasing after him, while Arkady was still on her back.

Alo and Emmett have now become best buddies. They like to have "guy time" together, while Emmett isn't caring to Saffy's every whim and need (she's an old gal, she sometimes needs a little help and Emmett is there for her even though she doesn't like to admit she needs help.

Emmett is starting to show the characteristics I chose him for - bobbing his head at everything and going spazzy - he must feel like he has settled in now.

I just gave the budgies some spinach leaves in a bowl of water and they are loving it. They are having a ball of a time bathing in it and eating it at the same time.

 

Robbie just feed me some seeds. he is so cute, he went all kissy and happy dance.

How do you get them all back in the cage?

Well usually I open the door and they will all go back in when they are ready, or hungry. Sometimes it is a bit of a mission getting Emmett back in as he isn't fully tame yet. But I end up getting around that, using a long piece of doweling.
